Life is good

And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.  This morning I headed out to my favorite lake again to see if the bass were biting, but when I got there, the wind was calm and the lake was like a mirror.  I could stand on the shore and see lots of bass swimming around, but they wouldn’t touch anything I threw at them.  Around mid-morning, the wind started to pick up, and so did the fishing.  But first, here’s something you don’t see every day:

Blackhawk.jpg

Four helicopters came zooming over the hills and flew real low across the lake.  I was a little slow getting my camera out of the bag to take a decent pic so I only got the last one of the group.  You can click on the pic to see the full-sized image…not sure what kind that is..a Blackhawk?  Anyway, back to the fishing.

As I said, once the wind picked up, so did the fishing.  Here’s the first (and biggest) bass I caught today.

Ty with a couple decent ones (next time I won’t make him face the sun while I’m taking his picture).

Not to be outdone, I have to hold up my two biggest of the day.

Let’s just call this shot “dinner”…well, dinner for Rob, anyway.  Rob came out to fish with me as well today, but unfortunately the bass gods weren’t smiling down on him because all he caught were smaller ones all day.  Ty had to leave early and he gave me the keepers he caught so being the nice guy that I am, and the fact that I usually don’t keep the fish I catch, I gave this whole stringer of bass to Rob.  So while I’m sitting here drinking coffee and blogging, he’s at home cleaning fish.  See how that works out?

Hey great pictures of your fishing trip. The weater was awsome today I took the girls out Geocaching and had a blast. The Helicopeter is an AH-64 Longbow probably from CP Humphreys.

    Have a great weekend.

The weather has turned a little too cool for me in Georgia right now, but I want to hit my favorite creek soon. The water should be up. Until then, I’ll go to the pond where I always catch some.

But, first I need a new rod since mine snapped last time….

Hey, I caught seven fish! Too bad all of them wouldn’t have weighed as much as the big one you caught though. ):

    mbrien,

Thanks for the clarification…and yes, the weather was indeed awesome, wasn’t it?

    usinkorea,

Georgia, cool in May? I lived in Valdosta for 4 years and I don’t ever remember any days in May we considered cool.

    Rob,

Shouldn’t you still be cleaning fish? Or did you pawn that off on your wife? :)

  5. Rob says:

My wife isn’t home so I had to clean them myself this time. Yeah, it sucked!!

    Rob,

LOL…no need to thank me :)

  7. The Lostnomad Spots Military Rotorcraft While Fishing…

The Lostnomad, a South Korea-based blogger, went fishing the other day on his favorite lake. Not only did he lure plenty of fish out of the water, he seems to have spotted an Apache…

    Nice fish.

It got down to 40 today.

Georgia weather is the opposite of Korea — never predictable. Different week to week and year to year.

    But the summers always cook….

Apache Longbow – sound of freedom, except if you’re one of the commie activists.

You guys did well, nice stringer. Too bad about having to clean them all Rob!

I’m impressed. I never seem to catch anything when I’m fishing in freshwater. What are you going to do with all that fish? BBQ?
