Found this while out fishing this afternoon - someone caught or netted these baby bass, threw them in this container and left them to die. What a waste.

Weird?! Do the locals see bass as a “trash fish?”
An odd aspect of fishing culture where I live (Germany) is that carp are a sought after sport fish. Many of the American fisherman I speak to (people fishing for trout, pike, or walleye) find this carp fishing to be hilarious.
Yeah, I know lots of koreans that fish for sewer bass (carp) like no tomorrow.
Nomad, you mostly do catch and release, right?
Bubba,
It depends. If I’m out by myself, then yes. If I’m out with someone who wants to keep some, I always offer. This, however, is such a waste and I don’t understand why someone would do that.
TAKE IT FROM AN OLD ASAN RIVER BASS FISHERMAN,
SEE A NET CUT IT !
IF YOU SEE WHERE IT IS TIED TO THE BANK,OR STAKED, CUT IT!
WHEN YOU RELEASE THE TENSION OFF THE ROPE THAT IS STAKED OR TIED OFF TO THE BANK.
THE HOOP PART WILL COLLAPS,UNDER WATER,MAKING IT HARMLESS TRASH
Joe,
Thanks for the tip. I’ve come pretty close to cutting the nets that are springing up in Idong, but didn’t want them to float around the lake, killing even more fish.
I’ve found nets in trees around farms. Farmers set them up to catch small birds, which they probably eat. That’s why I always carry a pocket knife when I’m out hiking (not that I go hiking very often).
I heard it from a long time ASAN BAY angler that those nets go up like they were soaked in lighter fluid if you touch a match to them while they’re piled up on the banks in the winter…
Gar you are a wise man,You must be a well educated outdoorsman.
Stop the tradgety before it happens ,
Never discard your cigarettes in the river ,Just place them on a piled up net.
The nylon they are made of will just keep on going once it is melting or burning.
I know it seems like a endless amout of nets ,So take along an extra pack of smokes when you go fishing.
A better educated public would really help . . . again.
