This just figures. Jim and Ty went fishing last night. All night. They asked me to go but I politely declined, thinking (there I go thinking again) it would be a waste of time. Once again, I was wrong. Big time, at that.
I could be wrong, but I believe that’s a freshwater tarpon, which Ty caught on a rattletrap around midnight. This is the first tarpon we’ve ever seen caught out of this lake.
Ty said that as soon as it got fully dark, the bass were hitting just about anything they threw out which made noise or a splash, like rattletraps and topwater lures. These are just the ones they decided to keep for our upcoming fish fry, but they caught many, many more than this right up until 1:30 in the morning when they finally stopped fishing to drink beer get some sleep. Trust me, plans are already being made for next Friday night and this time, I’ll be right there with them. As always, you can click on the pics above to see the full-sized images.

I’ve never tried night fishing and honestly didn’t think the fish would bite like they did. Another lesson learned and one I hope to apply next weekend.

Nomad, Mr. Yum BassPia said that funny looking fish is common out there, and in many lakes here in Korea as a matter of fact. He also said that that’s a small one! LOL The Korean name for it is gang jun-chi, or 강 준 치.
