I haven’t taken a day off work in a long, long time and on top of that, I’ve had a really bad case of cabin fever with this nice weather we’ve been having so when I saw the forecast for today, I decided on Friday to take today off to go do some fishing. Rob went out yesterday to test the waters and wouldn’t you know it, he caught a bass out of the river so we made plans to head out together today. I’ve been wanting to try out my new Shimano Calais 200A baitcast reel, so today was the perfect opportunity. (You can click on all of the below pics to see the full-sized images, including the panorama which is 1200×355)
Above is Rob’s first bass of 2007, which he caught yesterday. Not a bad way to start the year at all, especially since it’s only February. Today we tried different sections of the Anseong river near Camp Humphreys.
We started out close to Asan Bay, in a spot which is excellent in the April/May timeframe. I took a series of pics of this spot and made the above panorama (which didn’t come out too bad). It was a gorgeous day - little or no wind, blue skies and being a weekday, no other fishermen to bother us. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch a single fish today, but Rob extended his streak to two days in a row.
Here’s the bass he caught today. Way to go, Rob!
Nice bass. No better place to be on a work day! I sat in front of my PC all day and wished I was fishing.
Nice fish. What was the bass caught on?
It’s still a bit early for bass. The lakes haven’t turned yet but the mild weather makes heading out enticing. It has been an amazingly warm winter and the spring fishing action will begin earlier than normal this year. Just a few more weeks.
Rob caught the first bass on a spinner bait, and the one yesterday was caught on a 5″ Senko. I agree, it’s still a bit early but it’s just too nice out to be wasting the time watching The Sopranos
I started watching The Sopranos from the beginning last night. I can’t wait until the mother gets offed – she gets on my nerves.
Tony’s mother is a piece of work, isn’t she?
As Nomad said, the one in the top pic was caught on Sunday using a 1/2 ounce red and white spinner bait near some rocks on the river, in shallow water. The one in the bottom pic was caught yesterday on a 5″ watermelon with black speck Senko in water approximately ten feet deep (I’m guessing) with a lot of vegetation.
I caught four bass in four days, which is nothing to brag about, but I had fun nonetheless. Plus, I got to see Nomad bust his ass and break one of his fishing poles! That was the highlight of my day!!! Sorry Nomad, you didn’t think I was going to let you off the hook that easy, did ya? LOL
I drove around to some of the local lakes today, and boy do we need rain! The water levels are way low.
Nice, Rob, bringing up my ass-busting. May your remaining The Sopranos episodes be without sound
LOL Nomad…
