Humble Pie

Earlier this week, I had planned on taking today as a day vacation so I could join Rob for some fishing but I changed my mind after all the rain we received Wednesday and Thursday.  During an email exchange last night, Rob told me he was still planning on going out today if the rain stopped and I told him he was nuts because after that deluge, the river would be muddy, the shore would be muddy and surely, the fish wouldn’t be biting.

Well fishing he went and wouldn’t you know it, he sent me a text message once he got to the river that the water was real muddy.  I chuckled to myself and thought, “I told you so” but not five minutes after that, I got another text message, this one with an attachment:  a pic of a bass he had just caught.  “You lucky bastard!!!” I thought to myself.  That picture was followed by several more - I think Rob caught at least five bass at the river and then, just to rub salt in my wounds, three or four more when he stopped at a lake on the way home.

Two things:  I’ll never understand bass and what makes them tick and, if I’m wrong about something, I’ll be the first to admit it.  So if anyone needs me, I’ll be in the corner, eating some crow ;)

    Way to go Rob!!
Seems like you are always going fishing on Friday. Do you get Fridays off or something?
BTW, check your e-mail. I have a few questions about boating in there for you.

Reference the muddy water, you know my saying: the fish still have to eat, right? lol

Seriously, I have no idea how they even saw my worm in that nasty water. wtf? Ah well, I was off anyway and had nothing better to do. I’d rather be outdoors fishing and not catching anything than working any day of the week.

lol, I wish! I had some comp time that I needed to use from having worked the past four weekends. I saw your email this morning and will send you a reply in a few minutes.

    Amen, Rob.

I’m just glad we didn’t put any money down on if you’d catch anything or not ;)
