Last time until March!!

As some of you may know, I’m going to Nigeria on Sunday for 5 weeks, so I had to get one more day of fishing before I go.  Here’s the result I got from a VERY cold and rainy Tuesday.

I was using a watermelon/black flake GY SwimSenko on a 3/0 hook and a Parasite clip

Just resently I bought a Humminbird Smartcast, so I tied it to one of my rods and started casting around the lake to find out how deep it is and if there is any bottom structure, and to try and see if I could find some Bass  I found that the water was 6 feet deep all over the lake, so I tied 6 feet of 8lb line to the smartcast transducer and a 1/0 hook and Tiny Brush Hog. Here’s what happened next…….

Then on almost my last cast of the day I caught this Bass

It was only 40*f and the water was 38*f, but the fish were still quite active….I also missed and lost a few fish

Trout fishing

If anyone is interested, the gang from Anglerstown is meeting for some trout fishing at Seong Eun lake on 27 January at 8 a.m.

Scenes From KY Lake

I was fortunate enough to be able to get out on KY Lake with my two brother-in-laws while back home for the holidays.  Even though the fishing was rough going, having the December weather cooperate just enough for us to be able to get out on the water, and being able to spend some quality time with my two bro’s was great.  Here are a few pics:

That’s my brother-in-law Gary doing his thing on the left, and my other brother-in-law Eric doing his thing on the right:

Here’s a pic of a bald eagle perched high above in a treetop on the lookout for a meal, and a shot of the channel between KY and Barkley Lakes:

And just in case you’re wondering why there are no pics of Rob doing his thing, it’s because I was too busy catching monsters like this one (actual catch, or snag rather):

My First Win In a Tournament !!

I fished a small Bass Club tournament on Sunday and took 1st place with this 15.5 inch Bass caught on a drop-shot rig with a 6″ worm. I won a 20,000W voucher for a small local tackle shop!!

There was 25 anglers and only about 10 bass were caught by all. It was very cold and the fishing was very tough!!

An Old Photo, But Worth Sharing

Here’s a photo of a NooChi I caught back in November 2007 whilst fishing for Bass on a small stream in JinJu, down South.

Way to go, Steve!

Steve, who lives down south, hasn’t let winter stop him either.  Go check out his first bass of 2008, caught on Swimming Senkos (which I haven’t had any luck on yet).

For those that missed it

You can catch bass in winter, if you’re willing to get out there and brave the elements.

January In Korea

I was bored this morning and decided to go for a drive.  Even though it warmed up into the mid 40′s I had a feeling that the river was still going to be iced over, and as you can see from the pic below, it was.  Weird looking ice on the bank, eh?

These geese didn’t mind the icy waters, and man, were they ever loud as they passed by.
