This smallmouth was caught on Barkley Lake in KY this morning. It weighed 4.15 pounds 4 pounds 15 ounces and was released in the small lake in my brother-in-law’s front yard. The guy in the pic is the one who caught it and his name is Ronnie Nelson. Nice catch Ronnie!
Man, that’s a big smallie. I wish they had smallies in Korea, I hear they put up a great fight.
You heard right! Not only are they strong, they can go a little crazy. I’ve seen them jump 2 or 3 times before you even have a chance to react. And just to clarify, that fish is 4lbs 15oz. Not 4 point 15.They way I sent it to Rob it could be misunderstood.
I’ve haven’t caught a largemouth over four pounds here in Korea – yet. Yeah, I’m being optimistic
Gary, that means it’s almost 5lbs
Nomad, this is the year of the over 50cm bass for us both
Sorry Gary. Big difference between 4.15 pounds and 4 pounds 15 ounces.
Steve and Nomad, you guys can have all of the 50 centimeter bass you like; I’m going for the national record! Live BIG, Dream BIG!! LOL
Hey Rob, the Korean record bass was caught at a small (but deep) lake about 1 hour away from my home…..unfortunatly, the guy who caught it killed it and put it in a shop somewhere nere you guys
That’s the story I heard anyway
I’ve always heard that the record came out of Andong and that it was up around 14 pounds, but like anything related to bass fishing over here, reliable information is not so easy to come by.
When you coming back????
LOL
The story I heard was that the record came out of a small lake called Shin-won, near here.
LOL
Until recent years there hasn’t been an organization in place to track such things, and that is the problem.
I’m back home
I watched the “Holy Fisherman” show recently and it showed that Park Moo Seok caught the record Bass from Andong and then 2 weeks later some unknown guy caught a bigger one out of the lake near me and they made a show with both of these guys.
Welcome back Steve!
The Holy Fisherman actually lives right here in Pyongtaek. I know Gar has fished with him a few times, and Nomad, didn’t you say that he was at that new tackle shop you went to a couple of weeks ago?
If you’re talking about the guy with the longish red hair, then yes, John and I saw him at that tackle shop a few weeks ago.
