We've got a lot of great veterans fishing projects going on in Texas right now. My last combination fishing/hunting license complete with deer, turkey, redfish tags etc was free (well over $75 value). There are great programs going on now to join wounded veterans at Wilford Hall and Brooks Army Medical Center with professional guides for everything from bass fishing major reservoirs to kayak fishing coastal flats for redfish. Lots of people and companies are donating time and money to provide opportunities for vets such as these. Many of these guys are going through months of gruelling rehab in San Antonio and these programs really help out a lot. KASA has been doing a lot down there: http://www.kayakanglerssa.org/clubs/HeroesontheWater/tabid/115/Default.aspx
The Texas coastal fishing forums are just loaded with people willing to help out, I even remember groups like the Stranded Marine Mammal Rescue group and the Nesting Sea Turtle Patrol getting the troups involved in their efforts on Padre Island National Seashore (PINS).
