Way to go Tex! It was really weird on Friday as well. The fishing was great at dawn, and was pretty good throughout the day, but by the time 4 PM rolled around I couldn't get a bite.

Dave,

Thanks, and my daughter is the same way; she loses interest quickly if she's not catching anything. Once it warms up a little more, I may take her out to one of the local lakes where we can rent a boat for a few hours. I think she'll enjoy that.

Tex Mex,

Good on ya! That was a nasty cold front that came through, hopefully the last one this spring. If KMA is even halfway right, things are looking up and I hope to get in some more lunchtime fishing this week. As soon as it gets warm enough, I'll leave the house real early one or two days a week so I can get some "first light" fishing in as well before work. Nothing like showing up at work smelling like fish

I went out to Pyongtaek river with a friend this evening for about 2 hours. It was a little cold at first but by 1630 it got even colder and nasty. The river was higher than last week but I still managed to catch my two first bass of 2008. My buddy Jimbo caught one. It was tough and the fish were taking the bait very lightly. We fished super slow with Korean imitation purple Senkos and had somne action early but as the cold came in, the fish dissapeared. At least we did not get skunked. I'll be down there in two weeks as I have to take the family to Japan for a vacation this weekend. Good luck and hope you all kill em.

Nice job Nomad!!
For those of you with kids lacking in the patience department like mine, the trout have really been biting well. Took my daughter to one of the commercial trout ponds again this afternoon and really tore them up. We landed about fifteen really nice fat (2-4lb) trout in about 2 hours and lost/missed many more. My rugrat doesn't quite have the patience for bass fishing, but she does well when there is plenty of action like this afternoon. It was a little on the cold and windy side though.

Nice going Nomad!

One thing I've learned about Korean anglers is that they are generally not early morning types, which is great for me because I am. :)

Tex, I commented to Nomad a couple of weeks ago that this year had been a really good year so far. I don't know what it is, but hope that it stays that way.

I have not tried Idong yet, but might head out that way this afternoon if my wife feels like taking a ride.

By the way, the water level on the river Friday was about as high as I've ever seen it.

Tex Mex,

Someone will surely prove me wrong but in my experience, Idong doesn't "turn on" until sometime in April/May, depending on the weather and the water levels. I've found May and June to be the best months for that lake...the bluegill are bedding (if you can find them) and the bass are actively feeding, especially first thing in the morning and in the late afternoon/evening.
And yeah, the river has been pretty good so far this year but to be honest, in past years I've waited a lot longer to get started too...usually till the end of March or the beginning of April, after RSO&I.

And to think I stayed home because of the rain. You, Rob and Steve are definitely slaying them early in the year. It appears to be a much better year than last year from comparing last years reports to this years. Have you all even tried Pyongtaek or Idong lake this year?

Steve,

I don't mind the rain that much but I don't like it when it's cold and windy like it was today. Still, I'm glad I made the decision to head out for a few hours :)

WTG Nomad
Seems like the senko is the bait for that river. I'd better buy me some more before coming up there :)

Some of my best days were in the rain
