After hearing about how Frank and Rob tore ‘em up on Friday, I had to make it to the river. I launched early Saturday morning and immediately started catching bass. I normally like to power fish but Frank told me most of their fish were caught on Senkos. Sure enough, that’s what they wanted, something fished real slow.
I picked up my friend, John A, at 9am and we continued to catch fish until we left at 2pm. I think I caught around 20 bass. The average size was about 1 1/2 lbs, going up to 3lbs. All the fish, no matter the size fought extremely well.
Gochue, the weiner dog, was all over the boat whenever we caught a fish and even though we tried to be stealthy when we saw other boats nearby, he’d start barking and give us away.
I’ve always thought that the Anseong River was a great fishery, plenty of bass and beautiful scenery. Add to that, the fact that the bass are growing fast and you have a terrific place to spend a day. Three or four years ago it was rare to catch a 3 pounder but it seems like a common occurrence nowadays. Now if we could just clean up the trash………..
Way to go, John and John
Those bass in the river sure do give you one heck of a fight, don’t they? Who knows, maybe by next year we’ll be catching 4 pounders on a regular basis, eh? One can only hope…
Nice catch guys! Was it crowded out there yesterday?
Good job John and John, nice catches and great photos!!!
I’ll be there in a few short weeks, keep the fish biting for when I get there
“Gochue, the weiner dog” I wouldn’t like to shout that out in a busy area, lol.
Rob,
It was crowded, especially after 10am. I think the KB bass club was practicing for a tournament.
I asked around, but not too many were catching fish. I guess they haven’t learned the “power of the Senko”, to quote a certain fisherman.
Steve,
When your able to make it up this way, give me a buzz and maybe we can all hook up for day on the river.
John, I’ll be coming up your way in May for a couple of days boating/fishing/beer drinking, but it will have to be during the week as weekends belong to my wife and daughter when I’m in Korea.
….and I’ll bring my senkos with me
How are you getting along these days?
catch the big bass Congratulations!
