Rob,

We should have taken a picture of that one, that was something else. How old do you think that lure was?

One interesting note from Saturday. I caught a bass that had another lure stuck in its throat, and it was a pretty big soft plastic lure at that.

Also, they seemed to be hitting the wacky rig more than the regular senko for some reason.

I did some flyfishing for bluegill last year and was catching some good size and numbers of bluegill, and that was in the June and July time.

2006 was the same...my wife caught over 20 bluegill in a very short time while I was bass fishing, and the was at the end of June.

I might have to get the fly rod out when I get home

Nomad, I'd like to try fishing at Idong as I've heard you guys talk about it so much, we could maybe do some bank fishing there early in the morning and then go back to the river with the boats.

Dave,

A few years ago in the heat of summer, I walked the shore with an ultralight rig and a 1/16 oz. white rooster tail and caught over 60 nice bluegill (all catch and release) in a matter of an hour or so. Matter of fact, I was having so much fun that I didn't even fish for bass that day. That lake is full of them, but the problem is finding where they are at at any given time.

I was looking back at last years pictures and I was really slaughtering the bluegill on May 5 and that was toward the end of the bite. I remember that about 2 weeks later we could barely even catch enough for a meal. Maybe this week I'll go for some gills after work.

Dave,

Thank you sir, it was another excellent day of fishing but then, aren't they all? I'm glad to hear you guys had a fun time out there slaying the trout and as you said, the bluegill should be ready to go, if they're not already.

Rob,

We were fishing the wrong side of the river

Steve,

Perv! I agree, 15 bass is still a good day's fishing. And both Rob and I lost good bass out there due to line breakage. They are still there, you just have to put more effort into catching them than before. And to answer your question about Idong, from what I know, they only allow boats out there during tournaments although I have seen private boats on that lake on non-tournament days.

Rob, it should be just the right time now for bluegill at both locations, I haven't been to either in about a month. Next good rain we get, I will be out at night with a flashlight looking for night crawlers.

"Hard 15".....LOL Nomad (I guess I just have a dirty mind!!)

Any day on the water is great, and to catch 15 Bass with not perfect bassin' weather is a job well done.
I'm guessing that the spawn is well underway, if not almost finished, and with there no wind the bass may of been more shy. If there had been a little wind with a little ripple on the water then it could of been a different story....that's my theory and I'm sticking to it

See you guys soon for some fishing.

By the way, is it possible to launch boats into Idong lake?? If so we could hit the river one day and then Idong the next
