Fishing? Beer? Camping? Bar hopping? Count me in!! :)

Anyone and everyone is welcome to come down to Andong by the way. I can't guarantee a boat ride since I am hopping in with someone else myself, but there will be plenty of people with boats so the chances are good that you'll be able to get out there.

Tex,
I don't think I'll be coming this time round as I can only make it during the week and everyone will be working. Also, because it is around a 5 hour drive for me, I'll probably only be able to make it up there once per year.
If we (the Landing Lunkers crew) can all get together for a 2 day fishing trip on the river or even at Andong then I would be able to make it on a Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday (but not in May).
Let's see what others have to say

Steve,

That sounds like a damn hell of a plan, now if I can convince my wife why I need to stay overnight at the Hump when we live only about an hour away. When you get back though and are heading down to the Hump, let me know and I will head on down. Sounds like a good idea to do a little minnie tournament to make it some fun. The Hump is my old stomping grounds and my wife knows it. She knows my butt will be out at all the places she hates the most, drinking beer of course.

Rob,

Good luck at Andong. That is my favorite place to fish in Korea and I have always done well out there.

If I'm not in Nigeria and we all make a time and date, I'll make sure I am there for a days fishing before you head back to the states Tex, even if it's on a weekend.

"Landing Lunkers tournament"....we can all put in a few $$ like a fruit jar tournament

We could all camp out and drink beer and fish for 2 days. Does that sound like a plan or what ??

Damn man, wish we would have stopped by to say hello now, but like you, I wasn't for sure if it was you or not. We had been fishing for eleven hours straight at that point and were heading back to the truck to break down the boat. I tell ya though, the area you guys were fishing was ripe with activity early in the morning, and as a matter of fact that is where I caught the biggest fish of the day that day, a little over three pounds. And from what I could tell, I caught her exactly where you guys were fishing at.

We didn't even go down by the bridge that day so it wasn't us. It was probably Ruben and Ron, a couple of guys from Humphreys. There were a few other Americans out there in boats that day too.

Yes, I agree. The grassy area near the bridge looks awesome, and I bet it's packed with bass right now. I've never fished it, but it's first on my places to hit the next time I'm out there.

We definitely need to hook up before you leave. I'm heading down to Andong 2-4 May. There's a Pro/Am that weekend, but I'm not fishing the tournament, am just going to fish and drink beer. :) Also, there is a group of people heading down again for Memorial Day weekend.

Rob,

That was us alright. I saw you guys and thought it may have been you but wasn't sure. That one area by the bridge looked real good with all them weeds and grass but unfortunately you can only get to it by boat. I thought I saw you guys there in the morning when we first got there and passed through the bridge. Jimbo even thought one of you had one on as we passed by. I fly on 3 Aug back to the states where our family has not been stationed for about 12 years now. It will probably be a culture shock for my boys especially the one starting college this year.

Tex, when are you leaving Korea?

By the way, were you guys fishing from a dirt road past the rest stops and past the boat ramp on Saturday? I saw three Americans down that way, fishing in a grassy area where I had caught a couple of bass earlier in the day. At the time Nomad and I were on the opposite side of the river in the boat.

I like to think that the Koreans don't mean any harm when they do that kind of crap; it's just how they are and it's normal to them. And I'm not making excuses because it pisses me off as well, just saying...

I usually try to talk to them in my broken Korean, ask them if they've caught anything, tell them that I've caught about 60  LOL, etc. And I don't know why, but most of the ones who have done that to me (crowded me out) usually go away after I talk to them for a little bit. I've also found that a lot of them are really just curious to see what you're using for bait, how you're fishing it, etc. I've even had them go through my tackle box! WTF? lol

Reference the Senkos, I sure as hell think they make a difference, but that could just be me.

Tex Mex,

Sounds like you guys had a pretty good day out there and unfortunately, what you describe with the other fishermen has happened to me too many times to count. After catching a fish, I've had fishermen come walking over and casting right over me, into the very same spot like I'm not even there
In my opinion, the real Senkos do make the difference; it's a combination of smell, taste, texture, feel, and the way they sink/move in the water vs. the knockoffs.

Rob/Nomad/Steve,

Hope I can fish with you all at Idong lake or the river sometime soon before my butt leaves Korea. Got three months left and would like to catch some of them nice ones you all have been hammering. Nomad, you are just killing them in those one hour fishing tours before work. We went this Saturday to the river and caught about 15 between my friend Jimbo, my brother in law Gene and myself, but none were the size of the ones you guys are catching. Most were caught by Jimbo on a silver fluke at a grassy spot before several Koreans got all around him and drove him off the prime spot. Typical Korean ettiquete. I'm still waiting to get the real Senkos in the mail as I don't think the fake ones are as good. Hope it makes the difference.
