Early Morning Bass, Part 10

It’s Friday!  And what would Friday be without another installment of "Early Morning Bass?"  This morning I tried yet another area of the river that I haven’t fished in a while and although I started out slow by catching quite a few dinks, it quickly got better.  Here are a couple of my dinks for your viewing pleasure…

Fortunately, the bigger bass were also feeding this morning.

All my fish were caught on 4 inch, black Senkos this morning, except the one in the first pic, which swallowed my 5 inch wacky-rigged Senko all the way down it’s throat.  No matter how I tried, I couldn’t get the hook out so I ended up taking the Senko out of the bass’s mouth and cutting the line, leaving the hook in.  I hate doing that, but I had no choice.  Today was another one of those days where I hated to come to work because the bass were actively feeding and I was getting hits in just about every spot I tried and I’m sure that were I still out there, I’d still be catching fish.

    Indeed! :)

They were tearing it up this morning! Unbelievable!

You know my theory…screw the moss, aglae, wind, high pressure, low pressure, cold front, and hot fronts – - you can’t catch fish without wetting a line, and you can’t do that from home. :) Glad you had a good moring!!

  3. Nomad says:

Oh, and where I fished this morning, there was no algae…I’m wondering if the overcast skies had something to do with the feeding frenzy. But yeah, you’re right, you have to get out there to catch fish and I’ve been getting out there this year ;)

Once again, no invite! Come on Nomad, I’m an early riser too. Good Bass pics.

Ty!!! Ty!!!! I told ya man, you have to head him off at the path, be waiting beside his vehicle at 0415; that way he’ll have no choice but to take you.

  6. TexMex says:

Man, you are just killing them. I gave in and bought the real senkos so I need to get out there and see if it really does makes a difference.

Rob: Did you sign up for the Andong tournament?

    TexMex,

How do you fish your Senkos? I have found that presentation has a lot to do with it, especially out on the river. I’ve had luck with various colors but the old tried and true are 4 and 5 inch black, fished weightless on 2/0 and 3/0 hooks, respectively. And yeah, I’ve been really lucky this year but then I’m also spending a lot more time fishing than I ever have before.

    WTG Nomad!!!

I fished early yesterday early morning until lunchtime and had a blast. I post a report later on today as my camera is still in my car.

  9. TexMex says:

    Nomad,

I fish them weightless, both wacky and Texas stlye. I have gotten better action on the wacky style presentation but it gets to be a pain in the ass at the amount of times you get snagged in that river using the wacky style hook up.

Rob, your right. I’m to to suprise him. LOL

  11. Nomad says:

    TexMex,

You’re right, that river is bad for wacky style…and anything else for that matter…crank baits, spinner baits, or anything else with hooks. I’ve lost more damned lures in that river than I care to think about :(

    TY,

    LOL
