Almost skunked!

I got up at 2:00am and headed to the lake where I’ve been having some great luck. It wasn’t until around 5:00am that I knew the condition of the water. The water had gone from crystal clear 4 days ago to a coffee color. Needless to say, the bass were not in the mood to co-operate and I skunked at this lake after missing several shy bites on a frog and popper.

I then moved to another place. A 1 acre pond that not many people know about (or so I thought, because there seems to be a lot of empty worm packets around). The water here was worse than the other lake so my expectations were very low. Here’s what the water looked like……

I tried for a short time using the lures that normally work here but got no bites. The only way I was going to get a fish was to use sound and a dark color. I tied on a Black Cherry Vibrashock and almost immediately caught this little fella……

I ended up catching 2 dinks in the couple of hours and managed to miss and lose a few more.

LOL, that’s some stained water! But as always, the important thing is that you got to go fishing, and even caught some

Yep, the bass in that lake are almost all dinks with only a few nice 14″ fish (that I know of) but it’s always nice to fish there as it’s quiet and I never see ANYONE else. Even though it’s only 1 acre in size, it has depths of about 20 feet maybe more so I’m sure there’s got to be some big bass in there….I’ll keep trying to find them

2 AM! Damn! I thought 3:30 was bad. Yes, that’s definitely some stained water. Idong was actually pretty clear yesterday, or so I thought anyway. Like Nomad said, at least you got out there and caught something, and probably had fun doing it, which is the most important thing imo.

Thanks guys. Since there has been no rain for a few days, I’m going to try again tomorrow (Monday) and the water should be clear again……I won’t be there at 2:00am this time though :???:

Well Steve? We’re all waiting for your Monday fishing report!

  6. Steve says:

Sorry Nomad, but I traded my Monday fishing for Wednesday instead as my wife was feeling not too well today, so you’ll have to wait for the “Humpday report”

    …..and I’m going to a temple with the in-laws tomorrow :???:

Good news is, I bought myself a new rod today….a Rapala xcalibur for fishing BIG swimbaits

    Steve,

A bit off topic. A few guys from Geoje are planning a fly fishing trip to Gangwon later this month and would like to get a bit of practice – can you recommend anyplace on geoje for spending a few hours after work?

Great work love reading that there are actually still fish left in Korea!

    Thanks mate

I replied to this early this morning, but for some reason it never showed up :???: :?:

Brent, are you on the Island ??

  9. Brent says:

Yes we are. I read earlier some of your posts saying you were on Geoje and saw some pictures of you fly fishing nearby so thought you might be the man to ask.

Just looking for a good spot to practice as a couple of us are really new to fly fishing.

You can email me @ bamkorea@yahoo.ca if you’d prefer

Again thanks for any help. Cheers,
    Brent
