Great fishing after sunset!!

Went out yesterday looking for some lakes to launch my boat and have a few casts while I was there. Unfortunately, all the lake levels are way too low for my boat, but I did manage a few fish.

From the first lake….all on a gold and white spinnerbait fished right along the bottom.

I then moved to another lake, my favorite springtime lake. Again, water to low to get my boat in. I fished for a while without any bites. The water is still full of water plants, but they are dying off and now are just below the surface, so I thought the only lure I could fish would be a buzzbait…..best decision of the day. I caught 1 or 2 just before sundown, but the minute the sun went behind the mountains the fish came to life. I caught 7 on the buzzbait in 45 minutes and none of them were small. Most were 35cm to 40cm (14″ to 16″) and the biggest one going 44cm and 2lb 13oz.

Nice going Steve! That last one looks bigger than 2 pounds 13 ounces to me though. His, or her, mouth is freaking huge! Nice!

Great going, Steve! Although my ability to judge fish based on only a pic is seriously flawed, I’d still have to agree with Rob and to me, the last fish looks somewhere between 3 and 4 pounds, easy.

Thanks fellas, it’s always nice when people say the fish looks bigger then I thought

I guess I’ll have to calibrate my scales to see how accurate they are.

I’m taking my boat over to JangSung Lake again tomorrow (the one South of you guys on the 25 Highway) to try my luck again. Hopefully I have got my motor working this time so I can get to some better bassy waters.

It really is hard to tell from a pic, but I always look at the mouth to give me an idea, and that one has a big whopping mouth, which by the way, kind of reminds of me an ex girlfriend. ;) LOL

By the way Steve, I’ve always been told that the best time for fishing (and hunting too) is the time just before the sun peeks over the horizon in the morning, and just after it sets below the horizon in the evenings…

Rob, I think you are right….the same happened again yesterday, as soon as the sun went behind the mountains the buzzbait bite started again

    Steve,

Is this the lake that is between Pusan and Taegu with a ton of weeds in it during the summer? That lake rocks but it is a pain in the butt dealing with the extreme weed growth. Nice fish. I don’t think there is no better way of catching bass than on a buzzbait. It is exciting but you have to have patience and not try to set the hook when you see the explosion, which quite frankly many folks just can’t do. Have fun at Bali.

    Tex Mex,
Yep you are right, that’s the same lake you are talking about (the one with the highway service station) JangCheok Ji. The weeds have almost all died off now, but I love fishing a weedless frog over those weeds in the summer with a STRONG rod, reel and braided line.
