With that said, the lakes down my way do get a covering of ice at some point, but the streams and rivers seem to stay ice free and that's where I tend to fish the most during the winter months. And back then, on any day of the week I could walk the shore and never run into another bass fisherman unless I was out there with a friend. The carp fishermen were out there, but back then they congregated mainly in certain areas and I knew where to go to avoid them, which wasn't hard. My oh my, how things have changed.
