Offshore work isn’t so bad after all!!

I know you always hear me complaining about working offshore for weeks and not been able to fish, well, I think I’ve just changed my mind.

First off, here’s a sunrise photo for Nomad

Then a few nights ago, the weather and sea became calm enough to let me throw out a few lures that I brought with me. I also brought a travel rod and reel…..more on that later. Here’s some fish pics.

The rod only lasted for a few fish before it decided it wasn’t strong enough. My Korean inspector hooked into a fish using my rod when it snapped into a few pieces.

All I have left is a 4 foot section with 2 line guides, so it still works in a fashion.

That’s cool that you’re able to get in some fishing; looks like you may want to invest in a nice stout salt-water rod/reel combo for future trips ;)

I am working back-2-back with a good friend and fishing partner of mine, so when I leave here next week, he will be coming here and bringing a new rod with him so that he can catch a few and then I’ll use his rod when I get back after my 4 weeks vacation.
We caught a few fish last night also, but they were creatures from the deep, long silver things with huge eyes and needle type teeth….scary stuff

What you caught; by any chance did they look like these?

  4. Steve says:

Heck yeah Nomad, that’s the same one. The biggest one I caught last night was around 3 foot long, but I heard they get much bigger

Those look like the things my wife buys and eats all the time. Damn does that fish stink bad when it is being cooked.

Those are ribbon fish (also known as Atlantic Cutlassfish); we used to fish for them when I was on Okinawa and yeah, they can get pretty big.

    Nice going Steve!
