Fishing with Steve

Yesterday, I finally had the pleasure of meeting and fishing with Steve, who drove all the way up here from his island down south to fish the local waters with me. We met around 5 in the morning, drove out to Pyeongtaek lake and immediately started some serious fishing :-) . Not even 5 minutes after we started, I caught my first one on a black, 4-inch Senko.

Shortly after I caught the above bass, I caught another one, a smallie this time.

Not to be outdone, Steve started trying a few different lures and caught this nice bass on a bluegill-colored Vibraspin. This fish weighed 2 pounds, 9 ounces. I countered with another smallie smile_regular

Steve caught yet another nice bass on the same lure, the vibraspin.  The bite slowed down shortly after that so once the carp fishermen showed up and crowded us out, we moved to a few other spots but the wind had picked up and the fishing was slow everywhere we tried.

We moved to an area near Dunpo and I caught the bass in the first two pics in the weeds on a Senko and Steve caught a couple on a Neko rig- unfortunately, that was all we caught for the day. Once the sun came out and the wind picked up, the fish wouldn’t bite anything we threw to them and Steve had to head back down south around 1. I wish the bass would have been more cooperative, but that’s the way it is sometimes. It was a pleasure to meet Steve and to fish with him, hopefully next time there’ll be more time and better fishing as well.

It was a great pleasure to meet up with you too Nomad, I just wish I could of stayed to fish the evening and the next morning, but you can be assured I’ll be up there again in the future.
If you say that we had a not-so-good day, then I can’t wait to fish there on a good day. Those fish in the river are of a good size and quality.
That last one you caught was a great fish, I would say over 3 pounds.

Rob, you are 100% correct……Nomad is an unstoppable senko-fishing animal

Steve, Since you made that long drive, I was hoping for one of those super days where you have to beat the bass off with a stick

  3. Steve says:

I’m sure we’ll have one of those days one day.

If you ever get the chance to come down this way, you are more than welcome to stay with me and we can catch some of the Southern bass.

  4. Rob says:

Maybe I’ll be able to joing you guys next time! :)

I agree with Steve by the way. It doesn’t look like you guys had a bad day of fishing (is there such a thing anyway? LOL) at all. Nice going!

You all are just kicking some butt down there. Some of those bass are pretty nice, especially the one Nomad is holding up. That fish would be a good one in any lake. Boy am I missing the Bass fishing in Korea. I’ll have to wait until Late Apr or May before the bass even get going out here in Colorado. I caught a fat female two days ago at Pueblo Lake and I believe that was just a fluke. Trout fishing will be on the calender until the water can warm up and stay that way up here. Tight lines to you all.

Nomad–good to see you are still a member of the chest wader brotherhood.

Rob, like I said in the other post, you were missed out there the other day. That is a great fishery you guys have, you can guarantee I will be up there again

Tex Mex, congrats on your fat catch the other day, it would kill me if I could catch a bass in every month of the year. Trout are good eating and fun to catch.

James, Nomad even had me wearing my chest waders for a short time also, but I just didn’t get caught on camera

  9. Nomad says:

    Tex Mex,

Hope to have some more pics for you soon ;)

    James,

Yes sir, I am a card-carrying member of the chest wader mafia :) Last year the waders stayed in my car all fishing season and this year will be the same, I’m sure. Aside from being able to get to places I normally couldn’t, I also don’t end up with dirty shoes/clothes and I can walk through the weeds/brush once they start grwoing back in.

    Steve,

Are you sure I didn’t get a pic of you in those waders?

  10. Nomad says:

    LOL, you’re safe, Steve
