Since I’m going back to Angola next week [add big sobbing smiley here] I wanted to get my boat on the water for the first time this year and have a good day’s fishing…and that is exactly what I had!!
I drove up to JangSung Lake (on Expressway 25) on Wednesday night to get an early start on Thursday morning. This is the decent sized lake I fished at last year where they had built a huge new boat ramp. Well, when I got there that ramp was all locked [add super angry smiley here]. This seems to be the trend here in Korea these days. I drove around in the dark and eventually found another ramp which was also locked, but had some other bass boats there so I was a little hopeful. The next morning a guy came and opened the gate and my fishing day started.
With the new moon approaching, the bass were in full spawn and once I found the depth they were spawning at I started catching bass after bass. 80% of the bass I caught were all females and full of eggs and almost all of them were over 3lbs.
I won’t bore you with too much writing but will let the pictures speak for themselves.
Here’s the biggest fish of the day, 50.5cm and 4lb 6oz
Here’s one I caught on a spinnerbait I made myself just last week, that is a great feeling
Here’s some more fishy photos,
Nice going Steve! Glad you were able to get the boat out before heading back to work.
Due to work and vacation plans, I may not be able to get back out on the water until the end of May.
Wow Steve, you had yourself one heck of a great day! Congrats on the 4 pound 6 oz, bass, she’s a beauty, and congrats on catching a fish on a homemade lure
At what depth were they spawning?
Thanks guys, it was one of my best fishing days ever, at least in the top 5. It was one of those days where everything worked out right and the boat worked perfectly. I’ll remember this day for years.
They were spawning in coves in depths between 12 and 18 feet when there was a deep drop off to 25+ feet very close by.
Nice shoes.
LOL hunterdave, they are the most comfortable shoes for a full days fishing
Sounds like they were staging for the spawn. Were you catching them off of actual beds Steve?
And LOL on the shoes!
I have a similar pair that I wear while out on the boat.
Rob, they are great shoes aren’t they
I’m not sure if they were on beds or not as the water was too stained to see
but I guess they were very very close to spawning as they were very aggressive. I know that if they are actually spawning then the females seldom bite anything. One of the bass actually released a few eggs on my carpet
Yes, I love the boat shoes.
“One of the bass actually released a few eggs on my carpet”
You scared the roe out of her!!!!
