Just sending you a post for a spectacular trout fishing trip we had this weekend at Eleven Mile Reservoir and the South Platte River just below the lake. We left very early for about a one hour trip from Colorado Springs to the lake and river. It was a beautiful drive where we got to see a herd of elk, antelope, and mule deer. We also got to see a red fox and some coyotes. I can say that this place is very beautiful, well kept and clean. When we got to the lake, we found a small cove where we threw spoons, spinners and finally fly fished. Between me and my partner we caught about eighty 12-14 inch trout before we got tired and went to the South Platte River to go after some bigger trout. We managed to catch some bigger trout (Rainbows, Cutbows, and Browns) and kept the ones on the picture for a fish BBQ. All in all this was the best trout fishing trip I have ever been on and am looking forward to catching a trout this year that will go over 5 pounds. I just have to be patient and eventually she will end up at the end of my line, I hope. Tight lines to you all and keep catching them nice bass in Korea before they become extinct.
Way to go Tex Mex, and again, what beautiful country!!
Hey I don’t see any fishing nets, old mattresses, or piles of soju bottles. What kind of river is this?
LOL hunterdave
Great photos and report TexMex. I miss fly fishing for rainbows, I did that a lot along time ago in the UK.
However, there won’t be any bass photos coming from me in the next 4 weeks
Rob, Thanks for posting this.
Hunterdave, The closest thing we saw to the soju bottles and matresses was a dead northern pike that went about 30 pounds, at the bottom of the river. He probably got sucked in from the discharge of the lake onto the river so he now “Swims with the Fishes”.
Steve, post some of the saltwater fishing photos. Hope you got a sturdier rod this time so it won’t break.
Tex Mex,
Oh man, that is some beautiful scenery! What a difference over the crap I have to look at on a daily basis…nice trout, too, I bet that made some good eating
Please keep sending us these pics, it makes me remember that not every body of water is surrounded by nets, styrofoam, soju bottles and ramyon wrappers
Some of my fondest memeories of Colorado in 80-83 are fishing the river out of Elevenmile. Gorgeous country, with otters in the water and lots of good sized trout. Thanks for the memories.
All I can say is, this morning as I was walking along the shore of the Pyeongtaek river, looking at all the crap on shore and in the water, plus the nets and numerous carp fishermen, I kept thinking of these pics and how beautiful and clean everything looked in them.
Thanks guys, it is very beautiful out there.
Wilsong, funny you should mention the otters. One splashed right next to me in about four feet water and scared the heck out of me. I thought it was a monster trout or pike but through the clear water I was able to see the rat swimming away.
