Fishing with the little Nomad

Except that she’s not all that little any more…

Since I have a few days off and she has spring vacation this week, I took my daughter out fishing today so she could practice her casting, learn how to fish a Senko and hopefully, catch some bass at the same time.  So today’s time and trip was was all about and for her.

Here she is, patiently waiting for that bass to bite.  That’s my girl!smile_teeth

She did very well today; she caught the first fish, and she also caught two bass to my one. The one on the left is the first one she caught (She made me hold it while she took the picture) and the one on the right is the second one she caught – that one put up a pretty good fight but she did a great job of fighting it and reeling it in all on her own.

And here is the one bass I managed to catch. It was a great morning but right after 10:30 the wind really started picking up and it was hard to fish and cast…my daughter was happy with the two bass she had caught so we decided to go home and eat some lunch.

Fishing with the boss

Since the weather was so nice, my friend John and I headed out to the river at lunchtime for an hour of bass fishing. As you can see, there were a few other people out in their nice bass boats, also enjoying the day.

I wish I could be out on a boat, on the river, on a weekday, but unfortunately some of us have to work smile_tongue I didn’t see them catch any fish, so I’m not sure how their day went but when you’re out in a boat on a nice spring day, it’s all good no matter what, right?

John did really well today, as he caught several nice fish using a Storm Thin Fin crankbait.

The one in the first pic looks like you could put your entire fist in its mouth, doesn’t it?  I’m not sure if the fish in the first and second pic are the same, but one of the ones John caught today was close to 3 1/2 pounds.

Me, well, I didn’t do so good but that’s ok since I had a really good morning – and, it’s always good to let your boss catch the bigger fish, right? smile_wink I caught two smaller bass, both on senkos, of course.

The one on the right was a true dink but hey, they’re fun to catch too. Between my early morning bass fishing and our lunchtime fishing, it was a really good day today and I hope the good fishing continues from here on.

Early Morning Bass

The weather has been terrible this spring so far, with cold temperatures and high winds but this morning, the winds were calm for once so I decided to try my luck – and I’m glad I went out. I also tried a new place, about 2 kilometers past Daenkori on a dirt road (some of you know where that is, near the power lines). I started fishing around 6 but didn’t get my first bite until right after 6:30, and this one below was 19 inches long (48.26 centimeters – I’ll catch my 50 centimeter bass one of these days :) )

I had one more which felt like a nice one that broke my line right against the shore in the rocks, and then right before I had to go to work, on my very last cast of the morning, I caught this one.

I tried a spinnerbait for the first 30 minutes I was out there, but had no luck and then I changed to a 4-inch, black Senko and started getting bites.  I hope the weather starts getting a little better from here on in though, this wind we’ve had here recently has really put a damper on the fishing.
