I took a couple of days vacation in conjunction with the 3-day weekend so yesterday morning I drove out to the river, even though it was raining hard and the wind was blowing strong. Once I got out there, I found that fishing was almost impossible due to the wind. I only caught one dink near the rocks and then I decided to drive to Idong lake to see if I could find a corner away from the wind. The water in Idong is very low, and I was able to walk easily along the shore. I caught 3 bass, one around 2 pounds, while casting towards some clumps of grass out in the water. Unfortunately it was raining too hard for me to take out the camera, so no pictures from yesterday.

This morning I drove back out to the Anseong river and started at my favorite spot again. I thought the water would be muddy from the rain yesterday, but it is surprisingly clean. It was still pretty windy when I first arrived, but I caught a few bass – this was the nicest one, the rest were dinks. After a while, I moved to another spot, and the wind finally started dying down. Right around 7:30, as the wind was dying down, the bass started biting again but they were all dinks.
I didn’t stay long, because I have some things to do today, but when I left, the wind had completely stopped and this is what the river looked like. It’s strange, I haven’t seen any other bass fishermen out there lately (on the weekdays, that is), and also haven’t seen any bass boats or inflatables in the river in a long time – and no, I’m not complaining.
Alright Nomad, so there are still bass in Idong then
That last photo location looks familier
Steve,
Oh yeah, there are still bass in Idong, no doubt but it’s nothing, and I mean nothing like it was just 3 years ago.
LOL, yep, I believe we both got skunked at that spot
LOL Steve!
Nice going Nomad!!!

Yep, I believe we did…but it was very windy when we got there
That area isn’t a year-round producer anyway, from my experience. For about 2-3 weeks during the spring, some nice bass will move into that area among the rocks (that’s where I caught both my 50cm bass and the 49cm one just a few days later) to feed but after that, the majority of fish caught there are dinks, with the occasional decent bass thrown in. Now the first spot I took you to, that area was my go-to spot last year and I rarely, if ever, got skunked there. But that was last year, this year the bass haven’t really moved into that first spot we fished, but I hope that’ll change after the spawn.
Nomad, I may have to have another trip up North later in the year to find out
