Another Manic Monday

Another Monday, and another beautiful day.  This morning was really nice, with cool temps and low humidity…it felt good out there and I wish I could have stayed longer.

I threw just about everything in my tackle bag this morning but the only thing the bass would touch were Senkos (go figure).

All the bass I caught were dinks except for the above two, and both were caught on 4-inch Senkos, black with blue flakes.  The water is still pretty clean, but as warm as it is, I expect the green scum/algae to start growing again pretty soon.

Nice photos Nomad. I especially like the photo of you releasing that bass. Better hope the “bass haters” don’t see that photo

Realeasing? Who’s releasing bass? That’s my new way of catching them when they won’t hit anything else – I just reach in and grab them ;)

I was trying to get my hand out of the way and take a quick pic before the bass swam away but as you can see, it didn’t quite work out that way – and it was a good thing I pushed the button when I did because right after I took the pic, that fish was gone.

Yes, nice pics Nomad. What’s up with that net in the second photo though? It looks, well, kind of deforemed? ;)

    Steve,

Funny you mention that; a week or so ago, as I was walking the shore, I saw a real nice bass, about 3 pounds or so, sitting in about a foot of water, among the rocks, with its tail up and head down. At first I thought it was dead, but then I saw that it was just sitting there, still, and it was stalking a baitfish, which was hiding in the rocks. The baitfish tried to make a run for it, all I saw was a flash of silver and that bass took off after it so fast I barely saw it go. That’s when I knew that I didn’t have to worry about reeling a lure back in “too fast.” If a bass wants it bad enough, it can get it.

    Rob,

Yep, and I wish someone would move that net; no one ever checks it so it’s just in the way and unfortunately, it’s too far out for me to be able to get to it in my waders.

There are actually several of them out there like that, all wadded and tangled up serving no purpose whatsoever.

We’ll get it with the boat one of these days…
