A few from Thursday

I went fishing last Thursday, but haven’t got around to posting a report until now. Building fish tanks really takes up a lot of time!!

I got on the water early, around 3:30am but the fish weren’t really feeding until it started to become light. Most of the fish were caught on a hard jerk bait.

I also caught a couple on wacky rigged senkos and neko rigs.

Then I moved to another lake. The water in this second lake is getting so low that I fear the worst. I hope there will be some good rain fall this summer. But the bass were still biting and were looking in rather good shape despite the water level. The biggest bass at this lake was caught on a senko, but I caught several bass on my home made 1/4oz spinnerbaits  :)

There was also a few crap, I mean carp fishermen there with 10 rods each, but they left just after I arrived. Here’s what they left laying around the bank when they left…there was about 10 dead bass and a couple of dead bluegill.

Then, I moved to another small lake. This lake has some beautiful scenery, here’s some nice scenic shots…

The wind was blowing hard at this lake, but I still caught a few bass, most of them fell for my neko rig cast into the wind.

    Steve,

Sounds and looks like you had another quality day out there. I hope the water levels improve down there and with rainy season almost upon us, things will hopefully change for the better down your way.
Do you really think those (crap, LOL) carp fishermen caught and left those bass and bluegill on shore? If so, that really sucks.
That’s a 1/4 oz. spinnerbait? From the pic it looks bigger than that…I would have thought it was a 1/2 oz. Nice to catch fish on lures you made yourself, eh?

I’ll be heading back to Angola again next week, so hopefully it will rain at these lakes for 4 weeks solid while I’m away

The crap fishermen had fished during the night before I got there and all those dead bass and gills were all right behind where they were sitting, and they were quite fresh dead fish. I just put 2 and 2 together

Yep, those spinnerbaits are 1/4oz, they may look bigger because the skirt is full size, I poured the lead myself a couple of weeks ago. I also made some 3/8oz spinnerbaits which is my favorite weight. I will only through 1/2oz spinnerbaits when the water I am fishing is very deep.

Wow, has it been almost a month since you came back home? It seems like you just got back a week ago or so.

  4. Steve says:

I have been home 2 1/2 weeks already, but like you said, it feels much shorter than that. I leave again next Monday morning, so I still have a full week left.

  5. Nomad says:

You need a gig with regular hours, Steve!

  6. Steve says:

Tell me about it Nomad, maybe next year!! The only problem with working regular hours here is I will have to work 6 days per week, leaving only Sunday to go fishing…(with the crowds)

  7. Nomad says:

Ack, well a man has to do what a man has to do (in order to go fishing  )

  8. Rob says:

    Nice going Steve!

And as Nomad said, a man has to do what a man has to do (to go fishing). ;)

    Hang in there buddy.
