I was finally able to get out and do a little bass fishing, but it took coming to the states to do it.
This past weekend my brother-in-law took me out on Lake Barkley in Kentucky for a little summertime post-spawn drop fishing. It started out kind of slow on Saturday morning with my brother-in-law catching a nice catfish on a jig, and both of us catching a few dinks. So, after an hour or two of that we decided to hit another area, one that to me looked like the middle of the Pacific Ocean, but in reality was a nice little drop that had a slight bend in it, which thankfully for us proved to be one of the best spots on the lake (for bass fishing) that particular day. For an hour and a half we hauled in largemouth after largemouth, on nearly every single cast, with at least ten of them being 4 pounds or better. It was truly a phenomenal day, and one that I will remember for years to come.
Oh, and by the way, I bought a new camera too.
Here are a few pics:
Wait a minute, that’s not a bass!
That’s awesome Rob, great photos
Thanks Steve. I was just a bum along for the ride though. My brother-in-law picked the spots, told me what to throw, when, and how to throw it. But hey, it was a hell of a lot of fun and I’ll take it any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.
He actually caught some really nice fish, but being a tournament fisherman and all it’s hard to get him to slow down to take pics. He caught one that I know was close to six pounds, but he reeled it in, unhooked and released it before I could even get my camera out of my bag. lol
Good stuff, Rob. Hopefully I’ll be fishng that lake on a permanent basis in the not-so-distant future. I can’t get used to seeing a lake with no nets
Rob
I love the pics and fish. Almost makes me want to move back there just so the fishing trips would be easier.
Thanks guys.
You’ll love it Nomad. There’s no doubt in my mind about that.
Wilsong, I agree. It’s a heck of a lot easier to fish in the states, and launching a boat is 100 times easier due to the facilities. Were they still launching from that temporary dirt ramp down at Andong last weekend? When I was down there about a month ago people were having all kinds of problems trying to get their boats out of the water. Of course putting them in wasn’t a problem, but getting them out proved to be quite difficult for a lot of folks.
Rob
They had put in a concrete ramp way down but the water had withdrew a bit more. When I get home I will try to get a picture of it uploaded. Sorry no fish pics my Pro was too busy fishing to take time for pics.
LOL My brother-in-law fishes in a couple of local clubs, and is also an FLW BFL amateur, and he’s the same way. Reel ‘em in, unhook ‘em, and get that lure back in the water ASAP…
Awesome!
