My nickname is probably more like "He Who Prays for Dinks" and saying "That's not a fish?"

just wait another month or so when they open up the trout ponds. you will see people dressed up that look like they just walked off the cover of Cabella’s or something just to fish an urban pay lake. Quite the funny stuff.

FlyOrDie,

What the others said...unfortunately I can't add anything worthwhile because I've never fly fished in my life. I have enough troubles and tribulations just fishing for bass with my baitcasting and spinning gear :)

Wilsong,

I bet you catch just as many, if not more fish, than any of us. Isn't your nickname "The Bass Assassin"?

FlyOrDie

Also just north of Casey is the Hantan river. It has only Korean species that I know of but several of them are good for your fly rod especially in the tributaries flowing in upriver of highway 3.

There are 1 or 2 pay ponds due west of Casey's main gate about 2-3 miles that have stocked carp, trout (seasonal) and bass.

What do you use to get carp to bite? I have had no luck casting to them (as opposed to the limited luck I have with bass)?

Saltwater flyfishing is not widespread here. I have read of it on Seosan to Taean peninsula but not seen it. It would be blind casting much like some koreans I know do with lead heads and grubs for flounder and rockfish. Red, white, chartreuse, grey and combination deceivers, bendbacks or clousers about size 8 or 10 would be your best bet possibly.

I will be working on Casey 4-17 Oct if you want to jawjack about fishing some, but these other guys here are the real experts (i.e. they catch fish).

I am up at Camp Casey. I've seen James' website. I will definitely give him a call. I'm game for any species... the carp up here actually fight like salmon. Ive got poppers for bass and I have saltwater flies headed here in the mail. Looking for a overnight trip of two days of decent fishing...

Thanks for the quick reply!

Yes FlyOrDie, there are tons of pay ponds here in Korea where you can fly fish for trout, and there are also some natural streams and rivers that hold trout as well. I recommend contacting James Card. He's an American freelance journalist who lives over here. He guides people into the mountains on fishing trips, and his web site is linked on this site's side bar under Korean Fishing Sites. He should definitely be able to hook you up.
