Repeat

This morning was a repeat of yesterday; I got out there to the river around 5:10 and while it was dark, I only had one bite on a Senko, which I missed.  A little after 6, I switched to a white/red chatterbait for a while with no luck and around 6:20, as it got light, I switched to my trusty white/red spinnerbait and once again and that’s when the action started.

Unfortunately, it was so darned cold out there this morning that I was going back to the car like every 10 minutes to warm my hands up and I also decided not to take any pics of the smaller bass I caught (only 3 of them).  Yep, I’m a wuss when it comes to cold so I only took a pic of the biggest one. With 5 minutes left, I switched to the baitcaster I use for 4-inch Senkos and caught the one in the 2nd pic.

Nice going Nomad. The fish keep biting in the cold

Yeah, they do…but I’m not much of a stand-out-in-the-cold type, especially if it’s windy to boot. Right now I can still handle it, because I can run to the car and warm my hands every now and then. Anything near 32 degrees though, I stay in bed  Actually, I’ve read that the biggest bass can be caught right in the dead of winter. Doubt I’ll ever find out though ;-)

“I’ve read that the biggest bass can be caught right in the dead of winter.”

In my experiences, that is correct. The ammount of bass caught drastically reduces, but the quality and size of fish caught generally seems bigger.

Nice going you big panzy Nomad!!! ;)

    Nomad,

Aside from going to the car every ten minutes to warm up, you are still the man until the end. And almost all of them caught on spinner bait instead of senkos :???: Nice going. Hope you all still keep fishing and posting so I won’t have to send you the boring trout fishing posts from Colorado  Man do I miss bass fishing.

    Nomad,

Sorry about inadvertently listing your name as Nomnad on the previous report. Is there a way to edit a reply after you hit the dreaded send button?

To those that laugh at my going to warm up my hands; at least I’m out there, fishing, if and when I have a chance  Seriously though, I have bad circulation from years of smoking (or so I was told) and my fingers easily get cold/numb to the point they ache pretty bad even when the temps are only in the low to mid 40′s :(

    Tex Mex,

If you register I can give you elevated privileges meaning you can create posts and edit comments…let me know and it’s a done deal.

As Tex Mex said, cold fingers or not, you’re the man until the end when it comes to fishing Nomad. And as Steve and I have both said before, you’re an animal!!! :)

Tex, is there no bass fishing in Colorado at all? I guess the climate may be too cold for them.

    Nomad,

Sign me up. Let me know what I need to do. Remember, I am at the bottom of the barrel when it comes down to computer programs. That is why I have experts in my office to help me turn my computer on and off.

    Rob,

We do have bass fishing and I have caught quite a few but what you all call dinks, would be lunkers out here. I don’t believe I have caught any that went over 1 1/2 pounds. Caught a ton of smallmouth at Pueblo lake but all were smaller than dinks. We have a lake or should I call it a pond on-post where I can catch both trout and bass but again the bass are so small I have to use a two-three inch worm to catch them. A 5′ senko would scare them. Next year, I hope and am planning to be at Korea in June so I can attend the international tournament at Andong and maybe can catch some better bass than out here. Keep the posts coming.

    Tex Mex,

I sent you an email with the login information; however, if you feel more comfortable sending your pics to Rob (or myself, if you want) to have them posted for you, that’s no problem at all. But at least next time, you’ll be able to edit your own comment after you post it.

I could even post photos and a report for you too Tex. I always seem less busy than both Nomad and Rob
