I don’t know about you, but I sure hope it warms up here really soon, especially at night. Here it is the first week of April and where we’ve been well into the spawn or at least the pre-spawn the last few years at this time, I don’t think the fish have thawed out enough yet to seriously consider becoming active, at least not early in the morning. I got out to the river a little after 6 this morning, hoping that by that time, the rising sun would warm things up a little bit and the fish would be ready to go. I spent about 30 minutes throwing 4 and 5–inch Senkos and after I caught this little guy, I switched to a spinnerbait for the remaining time and once again, nothing. With these rising day-time temps, it should only be a matter of time though.
I fished over the weekend and the temperatures down this way are slowly rising and are around 55 ~ 60 degrees. I guess they bass will begin spawning at the next full moon at the end of this month down south.
Did you get any water temps from where you fished Nomad?
And good catch, I would welcome any sized bass right now
Seems like we’re about a month behind (weather wise) this year, doesn’t it? Hang in there. I have a feeling that it’s going to be a beautiful spring.
Steve,
The fish I’ve caught the last few days still feel like I just pulled them out of a freezer and the bites are very slow/lethargic.
Rob,
By the time it warms up, it’ll be summer! Watch, we’ll go from 55 one day to 80 the next.
At least you are catching rather just fishing. Ah, hell just good that you can get out there fishing.
nice fish mate.. any fish is a good fish
Thanks guys, and Wilsong, you’re right; it’s just great to finally be back out there again after a long and seemingly never-ending winter.
WTG, once again Nomad! I’m sending some pics of todays catch. I manage to bring in 5 Bass today at Asan Bay until the wind picked up and I left. I also watched a Korean dude catch three dinks on spinner baits.
Ty,
Got ‘em and posted them
