Lureman Cup #2

Last Sunday May 16th was the 2nd Lureman Cup, Challenger Open (Rubber/electric powered Boat) tournament held on the Milyang River, just North West of Busan. (Lureman is a Korean lure internet store that is owned by KSA Pro angler Park MooSeok) – http://www.lureman.kr/

One of the main sponsors of this open tournament was Surecatch Korea (http://www.surecatch.co.kr/), and as I am a Pro-staff for Surecatch Korea, I attended as a representative wearing my full uniform to help out with the tournament.

Once the tournament was under way at 7:00am, the wife and I were able to have a few casts. I caught one little bass and lost a slightly bigger one on the hook-set.

Weigh in for the tournament was between 11:00am and 12:00 noon. There was around 30~40 boats in the tournament and I think that just about all them weighed in fish (3 fish limit). Some of the boats were team boats and a few of them were singles.

And they won rods from Surecatch and Pure Fishing as well as a reel and a trophy.

There was a bunch of spot prizes given away to those that competed. Spot prizes were donated by Surecatch and Pure Fishing.

    Steve,

You’re looking mighty spiffy in that outfit  I take it you didn’t fish the tournamnet itself? That river looks pretty interesting with all those trees hanging over the water. I think I saw the Oh brothers fishing there on FTV before.

    Nomad,
Correct, I did not fish the tournament, I was just there to help out on behalf of Surecatch.

    Rob,
That stretch of the river is all like that with the overhanging trees, it’s perfect for skipping lure, I just need to learn how to skip!
Actually, this was the first time I’d been to that river, but I will be going back!!

    Tex,
No offers from ESPN yet, but I am open to offers, lol

Looking like a real local pro now, Steve. Does Surecatch have a physical chain of stores or only in Busan/internet?

  6. Steve says:

    Thanks Wilsong.

They have an office/warehouse in Busan and I think there is an office in the Seoul area.
Surecatch lures and tackle can be found at just about any tackle store that sells lure fishing equipment, whether it’s for sea or inland lure fishing. I don’t believe they have any actually “Surecatch” stores, but I will check into that.
