Spinnerbait Week, Day 1

Well, I hope the rest of the week goes better than today!

The bright spot of the morning was seeing the sun rise…the bass decided to sleep in today.

This is the ONLY bite I had out there today and as you can see, it came on one of the black/yellow spinnerbaits that Ty brought back from the states.  I caught this one very early, shortly after I got out there so I thought that maybe it was going to be a good morning but that notion was put to rest not soon after.  I tried other colors like yellow/white, my trusty white/red and also tried various blade combinations but the bass just weren’t interested in my spinnerbaits.  On a side note, the water is probably the clearest I’ve ever seen it; I could see my lure about 7-10 feet out as I was reeling it back in and for that river, that’s pretty darned clear.

So you are going to use nothing but spinnerbaits all week Nomad?
That’s an interesting color skirt on the spinnerbait!! good luck for the rest of the week Nomad!

I’m starting to forget what a bass looks and feels like, it’s been 2 weeks since I even seen a lake  I can’t wait for the weekend!

I am not sure about this week.. But last week I had great luck with a spinnerbait. It was pretty much my go-to-bait up untill this past Saturday. The it seemed they stopped hitting them so much.

  3. Nomad says:

    Steve,

Yeah, this week is spinnerbait week and that’s all I’m going to use. Going by this morning, that may be a bad decision but I’ll stick with it for the rest of the week.

  4. Wilsong says:

Way to go Nomad. Black and yellow is my go to color on spinnerbaits as I have said before.

  5. Nomad says:

Thanks Wilsong…I sure hope things start picking up out there the rest of the week. Otherwise, the lure of the Senko may be too strong ;) I think I’ll try a different spot tomorrow.

  6. steve says:

Spinnerbaits work better for me when there is a ripple on the water ;-)

  7. Nomad says:

    Steve,

The wind did pick up around 5 but that didn’t help one bit :(

  8. Ty says:

Get her done Nomad with that Wal-Mart $1 special. They always work for me and I only picked up two colors this time. WTG, no skunk!

  9. Nomad says:

That’s right Ty and tomorrow morning, if I can get up, I’m going to try another spot…gotta find those bass!

  10. Rob says:

I like your strategy Nomad, switch it up and try some different lures and spots. And take some more sunrise pics, would ya? ;)

  11. Nomad says:

Ack! I went to the 2nd rest stop this morning and got skunked big time! I threw spinnerbaits till my arms hurt and not a single bite. And again, I can’t believe how clear that water is…pretty amazing for that river. I’m wondering if the bass already moved out to deep water. With the spring weather we had, everything is off kilter and the entire spring, I’ve felt like I’ve been two steps behind the fish, at least fishing from shore…

  12. steve says:

So Nomad, how’s your spinnerbait week progress??

Only a couple more days and I’ll be able to go fishing again!! – if the rain isn’t too heavy

  13. Nomad says:

    Steve,

Last week wasn’t so good; The bass weren’t cooperating and I was also sick and unable to go out for a couple of days.

  14. steve says:

Sorry to hear that Nomad. I hope you are feeling OK now.

  15. Nomad says:

    Lots better, thanks Steve.

  16. Rob says:

Is it raining down your way Steve? I had planned to go out today but it’s been raining since late last night here…

  17. steve says:

Nope, no rain down this way. It was forecast heavy rain for Saturday and Sunday down here, but it never happened.
I got on the water today and had an OK type of day, I’ll post something later once I’ve uploaded the photos.
