Some Ideas Are Good, Others Aren’t

I started out this morning with the 10.5” Ol’ Monster worm again, just to prove to myself that the last two days weren’t flukes; and I guess they weren’t because I caught 3 in less than 30 minutes and missed one.

After that, I threw a purple baby brush hog for the rest of the morning and as you can see by the lack of pics of bass with purple baby brush hogs in their mouths, I didn’t have any luck at all with that lure.  Again.  I have never had a bite on those since I started fishing.  Maybe I’m fishing them wrong because I hear of others catching fish on them over here.  But hey, the Ol’ Monster worm came through once again!  I seriously doubt I’ll go out tomorrow morning because I am one tired puppy and I need me some sleep.

Glad to hear it wasn’t a fluke Nomad. Speaking of flukes, have you tried fishing with flukes? they have worked great for me in the past at this time of year.

Baby brush hogs have been a favorite of mine over the years, but I only really use them in heavy cover when fishing from my boat, never had much luck with them from the shore.

Man I need to go fishing!!
I haven’t fished since the Andong International and I won’t be able to fish again until July 10th at Andong. The wife has booked the family into a resort for the weekend. I’ll take a rod with me just incase though, lol.

    Steve,

Nope, I’ve never used a fluke. Or tube, either.

What’s your favorite color for baby brush hogs? How do you rig them and fish them? I had mine weightless and was slowly pulling it across the bottom at times, and then I also tried small jerks, letting it sink. But nothing.

If the weather is decent, Ty and I plan on taking the boat out this weekend. Maybe even two days, since the 5th is a holiday.

    Mike,

LOL, if I had one, I’d try it!

    Ty,

No worries, even if it takes 2 pots of coffee, I’ll be ready to go Saturday, with plenty of bags of the Zoom worms ;)

    Nomad,
I fish my baby brush hogs on a 3/0 EWG hook, texas rigged with a bullet weight and flip them into any kind of cover, my favorite being over hanging trees. Oh, I use watermelon/red or watermelon/black most of the time.
