And Now, With BassCam!

Ty and I rolled out at 3:30 this morning and were on the water by 4:30.  The blue skies and wind that KMA predicted for this morning never materialized; well, the wind didn’t and the sun didn’t peek out until around noon so we had some excellent weather all morning – overcast, semi-cool with a light mist from time to time.  We even had a surprise visit by Rob, who honked his horn at us from the levee while we were fishing the island.

Hey, I got cheated!  Right before I took that pic, the scale read 3.7!  I demand a recount!  LOL.  Anyway, we caught a lot of dinks today and I mean A LOT of dinks but among them, we also managed to catch a few nice bass as well.  Ty caught his on 4 and 5-inch, natural shad-colored Senkos, and I caught mine on…10.5” Zoom Ol’ Monster blackberry-colored worms.  Except for the one in the last pic, which was caught on a regular sized Zoom u-tail worm, also blackberry colored.  We also tried everything else in our bags; crankbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs, you name it but the bass weren’t having it although we did each have a hit on the jigs (probably dinks).  Oh, and I believe every single one of the fish we caught today came out of close and heavy cover like rock walls with thick brush, downed/submerged trees or heavy weeds.

And to show you that this blog is all about high tech, we now feature BassCam smile_shades.  Basscam; it’s almost as good as being out on the water with us.  Yes sir, another great day out on the river – although we did find out that after 10 hours, my trolling motor battery starts losing steam.  We barely made it back to the boat ramp.

Nice video Nomad! We should do that more often. Good day on the river once again Nomad. Standing by for the next invitation…

Good idea Ty, next trip out you can stand by with the camera in movie mode while I fish…so no need to even bring your rods
Let’s hope for some decent weather (by that I mean cloudy) for the next trip out because once that sun came out today, it started getting brutal. I’m not sure I want to spend 8-10 hours out on the water with that sun beating down on me.

ROTFL Guys, great job!!! The video ROCKS!! :) And yea, that was me. My wife was like “where are we going? I thought we were going to Seoul, not to the river.” LOL

LOL, thanks Rob. I’m just glad no one is out there taking videos of my EMB adventures because as you know, I’ve had lots of Bill Dance-like blooper moments out there and some things should be kept out of the public eye.

LOL It’s all part of it I guess, and is one reason we keep going back. Some of the funniest moments I’ve had in my life were with friends out on the water, and usually over something stupid. LOL

Ty’s narration is still cracking me up!!! ROTFL That’s great!!! :) Definitely, do that again!!!!

Hey Nomad, Ok if I leave my rods and film the next trip, that will cost you about $20 an hour. hahaha

Rob, I was waiting for you to get out of your jeep and start fishing.

The Basscam is the bomb! I never thought of filming a catch, much better than still pics. You guys caught some nice ones. The quality of bass in the river is definitely going up even as the pressure on them increases.

Is it me or does Nomad look like Lefty Kreh, what with the double billed hat and all…

I love the video guys, good idea
Good going on the catches also, some nice looking bass right there.

Nomad, do you have a second battery? I always have a second (sometimes third) battery onboard just incase.

  9. Nomad says:

I had to Google Lefty Kreh! But that hat saves my noggin on those hot sunny days.

    Steve,

One battery is about all I want to lug around, especially in this heat. We were out for 10 hours and this trip, we covered a lot of water to get to the various spots. I’m pretty happy with the time it lasts.

I just Googled Lefty also, and apart from the obvious weight difference I can see the similarities

I also just watched the video again, and Ty’s commentry was great, lol.
