Record dinks

I spent the day in Daegu (actually only until 13:00pm because it was just too hot out there). I meet KSA Pro Park MuSeok at the lake at 5:00am. We fished that lake until about 8:30am when it was decided that the water condition was not good, so it was time to move to a nearby river.

At the river (more of a shallow stream actually) I started catching dinks on just about every cast with a 4” wacky senko.

It was fun catching the dinks for a while, but I had to find something bigger to put a bend in my rod. I threw a buzz frog around some weeds and got a couple of better fish, the biggest going 45cm.

I tried fishing a jig in the shoreline grass for a while and had 3 bites, missed 2 of them and lost the other at the side of the boat.

    Steve,

IMO, any fish you catch this time of year, in this heat, is a bonus. So that river you were fishing was really shallow? Hmmm, with no deep water to go to, I bet the bass are in and under anything that even remotely looks and feels like cover. How about current or was the water moving pretty slow? Anyway, wtg in the heat

    Nomad,
You are right, I was just glad to be out there and catching some at this time of year.
The deepest spot I saw was 6 foot, but that was only a small area and for the most part, the depths were between 2 and 4 feet. There were a few patches of weeds where I caught the bigger sized fish and the banks were lined with grass (see the background in the last photo) and I could hear them feeding wayyyyy back inside the grass. All the dinks were in open water near the grass edges.
There was a strongish current at the spot where we launched the boats, but where we were fishing down stream, it was just like a small pond with no current.

I love the 4” senkos, bass can’t resist them. Great post!

Interesting… I’m not for sure who that is Greg.

Greg, the only Korean Pro I know that “flew in” was the 2009 KSA AOY, Mr Kang. He won a place in the US open for winning the KSA AOY in 2009. There is another Korean fishing in the US Open, and that is Bradley Yang, but I believe he now lives and competes in the US full time.
