I received these from Ty this morning:
I fished this reservoir at Kunsan on the 12th and only caught three bass. Only one was pic worthy and the water was way down just like everywhere else. The lake looked really good and had a track going over it which was really cool.
I fished a different reservoir on the 13th at Kunsan and caught about 30 Bass and 10 were in the same casting spot. It was fun! Here are a few pics.
Here are a few we pulled in at the 2nd Rest Stop. Frank you know this spot well. Pic 71 was a 3 pounder and after I landed this one I get a phone call from Jerry saying he needed some help, No help was needed he just wanted to show off his 4 pounder that he pulled in in pic 72.
I went to the 2nd rest stop this evening to try my skills out and low and behold I hooked this 5 pounder on a black and yellow spinner which has been my favorite spinner this year. I don’t have a fancy scale like you but I did put it on my tube scale but the pic didn’t turn out clear. I was able to run down a adoshi and have him take my pic though. If you remember right, last year on our last trip out I hooked a 4.4 on a jig head. I’m taking Friday off and going to try that rest stop again. Enjoy the pic Nomad!
Nice fish. Can you give me some directions from pyongtaek. Thanks. Great Job on the fishing. Going to do a little fly fishing for trout this weekend.
Yes, nice going Ty!
Got a new phone number Ron, not that I ever answer anyway.
Nice catch. Any issues passing the location of the lake you killed them at in Kunsan.
My wife’s family lives there and she spoke about wanting to go there this month. I don’t mind if I can go fishing.
Nice bass, Ty!
Guys, if you pull up Google Earth and check out Kunsan, you will se a few reservoirs very close to the base and around the city. Ty showed me once which lakes he fished and they were all pretty close to the base itself.
Thanks guys! Tex Mex follow Nomads guide and yeah the lakes are real close to the base!
Nomad , are you still getting things in order from the move? Did you get your household goods yet? It must be killing you to stop at those lakes without a pole in your hand!!!
Ty,
We got our household goods a few weeks ago; then the weekend after that my mom and brother came down for a visit so we’ve been pretty occupied but for the most part, the house finally looks like a home. I finally got my fishing license not too long ago but it seems like there’s always something else going on to keep me busy. I’ll get to the fishing soon enough, even if it has to wait till next spring.
Rob if and when your FINGERS HEAL. That my take the rest of the year. But when they do can you call with your new number, I miss calling and you not answering. (LOL)
Nomad. I know you will be out there sooner to fish . Send the PICS when you do so these boys can see what a real bass looks like. Well anyway me. Havent caught anything big this year. Caught some nice trout though.
Ty,
You guys are on fire down there! Nice fish. I’m also thankful that you and Steve are keeping the blog going. I haven’t done much this year and am almost ready to get more serious about(blasphemy!)golf. Pray for me boys…
John,
You and your master plan on doing a little trout fishing this year? Dokbong opens tomorrow. I’m thinking about taking off early today and hitting the lake up on 45 near Yong-in/Suwon exit.Caught some nice ones there. I also heard there’s a bass open at Shin-gal on Sunday (TWO MAN BOAT). Did you here anything about that?
John,
I’m also thankful they are keeping the blog going because I’ve been so busy since we got here that fishing is one of the last things on my mind. And I’ve got a coworker who owns a bass boat who has asked me several times to go out with him on the river and Kentucky lake. Matter of fact, he asked me again today to go this weekend but there’s gas grills to be bought (50% sale at Lowes
), leaves to rake, and shopping trips to be made with my girls. At the rate I’m going, I may end up fishing even less than Rob
Ron,
Post up some pics of those trout
Nomad,
When I go today or this weekend I will get some pics to post.
Hope you get the chance to get out on the lake before it turns Sh####.
LOL Ron. I’ll stop by your office in the AM have go pay MC a visit. Do any good this past weekend?
Rob,
Went Friday not to good to warm. No one was catching much. Have a couple of pics. Saturday (hung over). Jimmy (korean american working with me) said he caugt so many out at Dokbong that he quit fishing after 3 hours because his arm hurt so much. Going to take a birthday day off Thursday. Going ocean fishing for octupus with Shannon and John. John, He lives in your old house by the old Boozefighter barn. We also still got a group going to Dokbong Friday. Talk with you later.
Ron,
Did you all go back to Kunsan and have a bad day? We’re supposed to be going out there Friday and just was wondering if thats were the fishing was bad? Were is Dokbong at? I tried looking it up but couldn’t get anything on it.
Tex,
Went trout fishing last friday to hot. No one caught fish. Never been down to Kunsan to fish bass. Looks like a good area considering the fish that were caught. The Dokbong lake is for trout and carp. they net it off in the winter for trout fishing. The lake is located about 20 to 30 minutes from the osan/camp hump. area depending where you live. The best way I know is to take the new 45 towards Idong or Gosan-myon There are a few tunnels going up that way from the hump. Before you hit the tunnels exit off at yaengsong/wongok exit. Its the exit directly before the tunnels. Stay to the right and follow it over the mountain. When you come to the bottom of the mountain stay to right at the first light (y intersection). The very next light turn right and follow it down about a half mile are a little bit futher you should see a concrete road to your right with a creek on the left side of it . Turn right you should be able to see the earth dam and a new looking house up there. Hope you find it. great fishing there. GOOD LUCK
TEX,
I’ll be going this Thus, and Friday there to Dokbong. Going Thurs just in case it rains Friday. We have a few of us heading there on veterans day. Do a little fishing and a tailgate breakfast.
The wife already had us scheduled for Kunsan on Friday so i will be taking my fishing gear and small boat with me. I’m thinking I may take my frined and his two kids out to the Dokbong lake next week on Friday to see if we can catch some trout.
