Ty sent me some more pics:
We hit Kunsan Saturday morning and fished all day and we only fished this reservoir but we caught fish all day. Only a couple big ones were landed with Jerry catching 8 and I caught at least 20 but lost count. It was a good day out there and believe it or not the Koreans are finding out about this place because there were probably 8 to 10 that I seen throughout the day. Enjoy the pics
We visited the river on 4 November to find out it was hard to fish and Jerry was the only one to land this bass. Big enough for the only catch of the day.
Sounds like you had another good day down at Kunsan; maybe the bass have moved away from the 2nd rest stop again…that area was always one of those “you have to be there at the right time” type areas for me…there were always one or two weeks in the spring when it produced real well, right near the rocks on the right side and near those weed beds but after that, it got a bit tough as the water warmed up.
I hear ya Nomad! Hard fishing from here on out. Thanks for posting, I’ll hit Kunsan again next week. Take care brother and tell the family we said hi.
Ty,
Great job fishing down at Kunsan. Not to many fishing days left this year. Looks like a cold front will be coming in early next week highs in the 30′s only. Good this week though.
My friends and I had a great day out at Dokbong Friday. Some of the guys have never been trout fishing. They were nailing the heck out of them on power bait niblets. I think the total was well over 40 caught. I got a coouple of pics on my phone (ROB I’ll get with you)) but it seemed like everyone must of had a rough Thursday night everyone forgot there cameras. I caught over ten myself fly fishing. The good thing about this year; they all look like rainbow trout not the salmon looking fish. The size veried between 1 lb. and 3 lbs maybe 1 or 2 in the 4lb. range.. Real pretty.
Ty,
I was out there on Friday for about two hours and Saturday morning also. This was my first time fishing out there so I tried to hit all the reservoirs in the air base area like you stated but found after getting scolded by some old Korea Adashis, that we were not supposed to be fishing on two of them. The only real one I hit that others were fishing at was the one that is straight out of the main gate before you hit 21 (I beleive it is called Okbung reservoir). We caught several there on Friday but none with any size to them. We also fished the lake that is next to a touristy area and only caught blue gills. I know you stated there was all types of lakes and there are but without knowing the area it was hard to pinpoint the good ones. We also went to the ocean and did some dock fishing catching a mess of 5″-6″ rock bass and a mullet. It was fun as it kept the kids entertained. I will definitley have to get out there more often as it very beautiful out ther and the wife can stay entertained with her relatives, while I fish.
Hey. My name is Steve. I will be in Busan for work Nov 28-Dec 3. I was interested in some fishing. I have my own gear. I am assuming salt water is the best way to go.
Any advice is welcome.
sdavenpo422,
Welcome to the sight. There is another Steve on this sight and he also is working down there near Busan. He is a very avid fisherman. He usually times in from time to time on this sight. He loves to fish and does fish both salt and fresh water (bass fishing). He’s on a league here in Korea. I myself love to fish for all types of fish. I’m located up north near Pyongtaek. It’s about 3 to 4 hours north of Pusan. We have all types of fishing here in Korea. I’m now just about to give up bass fishing for the year and concentrate mostly on fly fishing for trout. Not the same as the states though but fun anyway. A lot of people are die hard bass fisherman. They will fish all year around for bass. Good luck and enjoy the sight.
JUST A SHOUT OUT TO TEAM AMERICA FOR WINNING THE ANDONG TEAM WALKING PORTION OF THE TOURNAMENT OVER VETERANS DAY WEEKEND. GREAT JOB YOU GUYS. HOPE YOU CAN POST SOME PICTURES. THEY GOT MOST OF THERE FISH BY HAMANI’S PLACE WHERE WE USALLY STAY AT. CONGRATS. AGAIN. GOOD JOB ALSO STEVE HEARD YOU ALSO WAS DOWN THERE AND GAVE THEM SOME ADVICE. GREAT YEAR STEVE.
Good going Ty and Jerry, nice catches.
Sdavenpo422, salt water fishing is something I don’t do myself, but looking on the fishing channel on TV the fishing looks good right now for flatfish. If you want to fish inland for LM bass, then just about any body of water will have bass, especially the rivers/streams in and around Busan.
GREAT going and congratulations TEAM AMERICA for your very impressive win at Andong last Sunday!!
Nomad– seen this article on ancient fishing?
Hope all’s well.
