The last couple of weeks I have fished on the Nakdong river in Busan. One week (Nov 27th) I fished in a tournament. I won’t say too much about that because I only caught one keeper, but I can make a small 12 inch bass look much bigger…lol
In that same tournament somebody caught on heck of a nice bass. It was 59cm and was caught on a weighted wacky rigged worm. This guy only came in 2nd place even with a nice bass like this….
The following weekend I fished with a Korean buddy of mine. He wanted to show me some good fishing spots on the river, a river that I have only fished a few times, so I‘ll take all the help and pointers I can get! We headed out around 10:00am and it was mighty cold when driving a boat into a cold wind at over 55mph. We fished a few deep spots first with jigging spoons at fish we saw on the fish finder, but either they weren’t bass or they just were interested.
In the early afternoon the wind calmed down a little and it got a little warm, so we fished some shallow channels and started catching a few fish. Nothing huge, but it was fun. Here’s a series of photos my buddy took of my playing a bass.
That was the biggest of the day, but here’s a few small ones.
Ah, so nice to see that some people are fishing
You keep me motivated, Steve. And damn, that is one nice bass in that pic! 59cm…what did that weigh, about 7 or 8 pounds?
Nice pictures, Steve! Thanks for the report!
Hi, I’m kind of new fishing (2months), but i have a Korean friend who has taken me under his wing. I got to say I’m kind of addicted to fishing now, the thrill of the catch and what will be on the end. I live in Hadong and the fishing sites i’ve been taken to are around Namhae and Yeosu.
Are renting those small boats expensive in Korea? my friend said its usually 200 per head :-0.
Great pictures and amazing blog, learnt alot from reading through your site. keep the posts coming
My korean friend caught a huge 62 centimeter Bass at pyeontaek on a tiny jighead. To bad it was one of the only fish we ever got there. except for another 45 centimeter bass I got
so i geuss the spot has big bass but barely any
acojsx, I think your friend got some bad information on the price of boat rentals. You should be able to rent an inflatable or wooden john boat for about 50,000 Won per day anywhere in Korea. You could rent a full blown bass boat for the whole weekend, including gas, for 200, and that’s total ~ regardless of how many people.
Nice going Jacob! A 45 centimeter bass is nothing to be ashamed of, especially this time of year. Nice going!
Sorry my bad, I got it wrong, it was for a Sea boat, not a river one. Me and my friend only fish in the Sea.
