Flashing Light Boat Ramp in Pyongtaek

It looks like the boat ramp just past the PBA area (turn left at the second flashing light past PBA) might be open this spring.  As you can see from the pic below, someone has paid to improve the ramp by having concrete laid.  The nets currently spread out across it are no big deal.  From my experience, Adoshi does that every year and by early spring they’ll be in the water.  So, I think there is a glimmer of hope for bass fishermen with boats in Pyongtaek after all.  And personally, I like this launch site much better than the PBA area anyway.  It’s wider, you can back straight in instead of at an angle, and it gradually slopes into the water instead of just dropping off like the PBA area boat ramp does.

    Is that ice I see?

  2. Nomad says:

    I miss frozen rivers.

    Hahahahahahahaha

  3. Steve says:

    Really Nomad…….really?

  4. Rob says:

Yes sir, that right there is ice! :) It’s melting fast though. By this time next week I don’t expect to see any out there.

  5. Steve says:

We got a slight ice covering down here this winter, but it’s all gone…..at least I hope so, I have a tournament on the river tomorrow morning

Thanks for checking out the ramp Rob, but like I mentioned earlier, it looks like the KSA pros will possibly not be fishing the Pyungtaek river this year after all. That sucks, because I was really looking forward to it

  6. Rob says:

Good luck in your tournament tomorrow Steve. It’s been iced over up here, bank to bank, since mid December up until about a week ago. Anybody heard anything about Andong? Is it iced over?

  7. Nomad says:

Yeah Steve, it’s kind of depressing over here. Not a net in sight, no soju bottle littering the shores, and I yearn for the sight of a cranky, smelly, old guy with 15 poles in the water, fishing for carp.

  8. Ty says:

Burn them nets! Nomad, you could start a trend over there. Put 15 poles out and leave your empty soju bottles. Git er done! lol

  9. Nomad says:

LOL Ty  I have to check but I’m pretty sure they have rules over here about how many rods you can use at one time…it probably depends on what type of fishing you’re doing though. And the truly sad part is that I actually have enough rods to where I COULD put 15 out at one time

  10. Ron says:

    Rob,

Thanks for the checkout. Looks good the ramp. Your right about putting in there alot easier. I’ll pass the word to TK and Ruben. They were asking. Sorry we didn’t get to see you at Carl birthday dinner. Pretty big crowd. Getting ready for some fishing.

  11. Rob says:

Ron, I went by that restaurant at 4PM and there was “nobody” there, not a soul. There was one black car in the parking lot…

On the ramp, hopefully it’ll be open for use here real soon.

  12. Ron says:

    Rob,

Sorry we missed you. Usually your the late one.LOL. We just missed you then. When I got there around 4:15 there were about 10 people there. You should of called. Probably 30 people showed up. Carl got there with his wife around 4:30. He was surprised big time. Didn’t have a clue. Went well anyway. Car might of been Reggies. Did you go Sunday or Sat? Party was Sat.Got word from Jimmy on the pba ramp. He had a meeting out there. He said they blacktopped the top area and he said you could still possible lanch from there this spring. Hopefully we can.

  13. Rob says:

I figured you guys were still sitting at the game room. LOL I went Saturday, and no worries it’s all good. I don’t think the car was Reggie’s unless he got a new one. This one was a four-door sedan, Korean car.

I’m hoping they cut a new road into the PBA area. It’s just about time to lock and load!!! :)

  14. Ron says:

    ROB,

MIGHT HIT THE RIVER AND DO SOME BANK FISHING THIS WEEKEND.

MAYBE A LITTLE SNAKEHEAD FISHING TO SEE IF THEY’RE BITTING YET.

  15. Ron says:

MADE SOME MORE A-RIGS THIS WEEK. ALOT STRONGER THEN THE LAST ONES. DOUBLE UP ON THE WIRE. FEED IT THROUGH A SMALL WIRE SPLINT AND USED SOME METAL SET AROUND IT AND SHAPED IT. PULLED THE WIRES APART TO GET THE ANGLE I WANTED BEFORE BENDING THE ENDS USING A SET OF NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE A SWIVEL LOCK. DON’T EVEN NEED TO PAINT THEM. PROBABLY WON’T CATCH ANY FISH ANYWAY.

  16. Rob says:

Good luck if you get out there Ron. I went down to the blue barge area the other day and all of the ice has melted down that way too. I’m sure your a-rigs are fine, just get out there and get ‘em wet!! :)

    Steve/Rob,

My friend Jimmy(Scorpion member)(Korean american) went fishing down south near Gwangju and destroyed them.I had him send some pictures to Rob and hopefully he will post them. The lake is near a place called Noksan-ri and its just off highway 15. From Pyongtaek you would take hwy 1 to 25 to 30 west to 151 south to hwy 15 and get off on 23 south on the west side of hwy 15 and then when it crosses back under 15 on the east side you will be there. He said thats the best way to get there. The small town before that it where he spent the night. Seems pretty easy when you look at a map about 3 hours south of Pyongtaek. Hotels run around 40,000 won for the night around that area he said. They caught most on them on Saturday on three and four inch split tails. He said they have a lanch ramp and boats are authorized on the lake. Just some intel for all the bass fisherman. He gave some of the fish he caught to some friends here and they looked to weigh in the 2 1/2 to 4 lb. range. Nice Bass.

  18. Ron says:

Steve, Did you ever get the new schedule for ksa yet? Do any fishing over the weekend?

  19. Steve says:

Ron, I have just posted the new English KSA schedule on the KSA site today. I’ll post it here in a short while also.

Nup, no fishing this past weekend Ron, we had heavy rain all weekend. How about you?

  20. Steve says:

Ron, that lake you are talking about sounds like BulGap Lake. I have never fished there, but I see it mentioned on FTV regular.

  21. Ron says:

    Steve,
Thanks for the schedule. I’ll pass it on. I didn’t ask jimmy the name but I talke your word. I know it’s not the lake where they held a touranment a couple years ago. That lake is north of Gwangju. They did a number on the fish down there. That lake is probably closer to you then it is to us Steve. I see you will still be making a trip or two up this way after all. Ruben and I checked out a spot Last Sunday up aroung Dangin to lanch and fish.Rob beeen out there before. There were a lot people bass fishing even though it was shitty. The only good fish the koreans said was caught on a a -rig. We didn’t fish to windy and rainny. I gave some of my a-rigs to a couple of them. They were my first generaation ones. My second generation ones came out sweet. Talk with you later.

  22. Ron says:

    Steve,

I talked to my friend and you are right on the lake name. He also said some of the best bass fishing is down by Goheung pennisula near a town called Nomchon-ri. Out of Busan 10 west to 27 south to 2 to 15 south to 855 south He said some really nice bass there Probably about 2 hours from you are a little closer. Have you been there? He said with the dam there and river coming down great place for bass fishing Another lake is right off 25 near Sucheon. Don’t know aboth that lake though. Take care see you this summer up here or down at Andong. Later

  23. Steve says:

    Ron,
Bulgap lake is 3+ hours for me also, so not really practical for me to drive that far when there are other good waters closer by. I migt have to try one time though.
The other place you mentioned in the Goheong area is called HaechangMan and I have fished there several times, it’s an awesome fishery with tons of good sized bass. There is a ramp there, but it’s not the best ramp in Korea, lol.
