Yesterday was our Bass Club’s monthly meet and it was at my favorite lake, so despite the cold and windy weather forecast I decided to take my chances.
We all fished a mini tournament in the morning and I only managed one small bass, but when everyone left for their 2 hour drive back to Ulsan, I decided to stay for a few more hours. I ended up catching 5 more bass, nothing big, but they were bass
The first 2 were caught on a Neko rig, then I pulled 2 bass out of overhanging trees by flippin’ a baby brush hog and a Parasite weight, and the last 2 bass fell for a shallow, wide wobbling crankbait.
I fishing from my boat for the first time since May this year and it worked great in the bad weather despite the long time away from the water. And checkout the boat ramp at this lake…..lol

I have been busy since being back home, but Tuesday I finally got out to the water for a few hours. I was a little windy but still very warm when the sun was shining. I only used 2 rigs, a spinnerbait and a wacky rigged GY Senko. The score was even with 2 bass on each rig. 3 of them were true dinks, and the biggest was about 10 inches.
But is was great to be fishing again. As soon as these 20mph+ winds drop I will be taking my boat out a few times.

This is the reason why I have been so busy lately. Since I am leaving Korea again on Monday for work, I wanted to get this finished before I left. It is a 284 gallon tank, double the water of my current tank.
But since I am leaving in a few days, I will wait until my return to put my pet Bass in there.

That is the time I fished yesterday. I got this sun rise photo just before stepping foot in my boat…
And I got this sun-going-down photo just as I was about to call it quits…
Now onto the important part of the post. My Fall fishing just keeps getting better. As you know I caught a new personal record of 55 bass in one day a couple of weeks ago, well yesterday I kicked that record’s @$$. I caught 70 bass and only 2 or 3 of them were dinks. Almost every bass was around 15 inches with one or 2 16 and 17 inches thrown in for good measure. I fished at a place called Hae Chang Man on the South West coast (near Mokpo and Yeosu). This lake is a decent size and about 99% of it’s banks are lined with the tall grass, so bank fishing is almost impossible (so I took my little inflatable).
75% of my bass were caught on buzzbaits fished along the weed edges and this pattern worked all day long which surprised me, because usually the buzzbait bite dies off long before midday. If a bass missed the buzzbait, I would flip a baby brush hog to the same spot the bass hit and I would catch the bass straight away. All the other bass were caught on a black and blue KaRu poison tail jig with a craw trailer flipped into the tall grass.
AWESOME DAY!! Here’s some photos.

I went back to that lake where I caught 55 bass and 2 snakeheads last week hoping for a repeat. The weather conditions were a little different with much more sun and a stiff breeze blowing (good job I had my 6kg dumbbell anchor with me, or I would of been blown all over the place in my little inflatable boat).
The same lures worked again that worked last week, buzzbaits in the early morning then spinnerbaits and Vibrashocks during midday and afternoon. There are 2 or 3 trees and bushes overhanging the water here so I also did some flippin’ with a baby brush hog with a parasite weight.
I only caught 29 bass this time — lol
Here’s a few photos of the better ones, no dink photos posted (even though I caught plenty of dinks), lol

I went out for a few hours yesterday morning, just for a few hours of bank fishing. I started at one lake and caught 6 bass of decent sizes between 12 and 14 inches. Most were caught early on buzzbaits and caught a couple on the Neko rig and spinnerbaits.
Then I stopped off at a service station for some lunch on the way home and thought I would hit another lake on my way home. The “on the way home” lake is always very tough to fish from the bank, and yesterday was no different. I got one bass on a buzzbait, but it was a nice one – 43cm and 2lb 1oz.
Tomorrow I am heading back to that great Friday lake with my inflatable boat, hopefully I will have a repeat of last Friday

What a day on the water!!!!
The day started off bad as the water level in the lake I wanted to fish was really low again (thank you rice farmers!) and I was unable to get my inflatable boat anywhere near the water to set it up. So I drove another 30 minutes back to a lake I don’t know much about and got the boat ready. This lake gets fished a lot by bank fishers but only 2 sides are accessible by foot and I don’t think this lake gets a lot of boat pressure.
The bass were busting baitfish all over the lake in water between 1 and 4 foot deep, so my 3 best lures on the day were a buzzbait early morning, then a spinnerbait in the late morning and a KaRu Vibrashock from noon though the rest of the afternoon. I caught 1 or 2 on a senko and Neko rig and even a couple of dinks flippin’ a baby brush hog with a Parasite weight tungsten weight.
I caught a total of 55 bass and 2 snakeheads.
What an awesome day, it was one of those days when you would give anything for just a few more hours of daylight. I think I’ll be going back there again next week. Here’s some photos.

Well, I took my little inflatable to a lake yesterday. This particular lake is rather tough to fish, especially from the bank, but it is the closest bass water to my home.
I have fished this lake from the bank about 6 times in the past and only caught 3 bass. So I wanted to see if I could do better from a boat.
The morning started well as I caught 4 or 5 dinks between 6:30am and 9:00am from 4 foot of water along weed edges, then the bites stopped so I moved into deeper water and caught one tiny little fella…
I covered almost all of the small lake with lots of different depths and lures, but the only lure that shone this day was a (wait for it Nomad) real GY Senko (5” watermelon/red flakes) fished wacky rigged. I tried copy senkos also, which did catch a few fish, but the GY Senko was by far the superior bait of the day.
Here’s a few more fish…
And the biggest for last, caught on almost the last cast of the day…

I was sitting in the apartment yesterday around lunchtime twiddling my thumbs, so I just popped down to the lake for a few hours.
With the summer holidays starting, the roads and lake were busy. The lake shore (good bass fishing spots) was consumed completely with crap carp fishermen, so there were only a few spots available.
I had several bites, but I think most of them were from the masses of bluegill in this lake, but I did manage this one nice bass on a spinnerbait.

I was at my first port of call at 4:00am with the hope of catching some early morning bass, but when I got to the only spot available during the summer months I was surprised to see 5 or 6 other bass fishers. All the time we were there only to fish were caught…and they were both caught by me [insert big headed smilie here
]. Needless to say, I heard several complaints about the Mi Gook guy (if only they knew…lol).
I tried boozebaits for a short time also with no luck – lol
Here’s the 2 of the morning, both caught on one of my own spinnerbaits.

Since the fishing was kind of poor here, I moved to another lake to check out the water levels, and caught a few fish while I was there. Then I went to a third lake to do the same. The great news is that all the lakes I went to were complete full again and mostly in good water conditions and the grass that grew while the water was low is now holding lots of bass – Froggin’ time again
Here’s some dinks from these 2 lakes.

Now for the really great news – There is a lake closer to my home that I have suspected has bass in it for some time, but every time I have tried fishing there I have always skunked and concluded there actually is no bass in there at all. There also has been no evidence of bass fishing like other fishermen and empty senko packets etc laying around the banks and there is always a ton of carp fisher people there.
Well yesterday I thought what the hell, let’s try there again. Just as I pulled into the cark park another bass fisherman pulled up and he showed me some good spots. On about my second or third cast I caught this…

The even better news is, there is also a place to launch my boat

A couple of weeks ago I went fishing and posted a report called “Dink Day!!”. Well, this report is full of everything but dinks.
I took my boat to a lake I have never fished before called NaJu Lake in GwangJu. The water levels we down so much that all known boat ramps were high and dry, but luckily I ran into some locals that showed me a secret ramp (if that’s what you can call it)…but that’s another story.
I haven’t counted all my photos yet, but I’m guessing I caught around 30 bass and only 2 of them were under 40cm / 16 inches. I also caught 4 or 5 big bluegills on several bass lures.
The early morning bite was topwater stick baits. Then after 9:00am the topwater bite stopped and spinnerbaits and cranks baits were the order of the day.
Bluegills first…
Now for the bass photos.
And I saved the biggest for last… 51cm and 4lb 6oz. The spot where I caught this one was a shallow flat area of around 5~7 foot where I also caught several other big females with red tails. I guess these were very late spawners and the water temps were around 77f and 78f.
No sun rise pics, but he is a sun setting pic I got on my way home…

I went fishing last Thursday, but haven’t got around to posting a report until now. Building fish tanks really takes up a lot of time!!
I got on the water early, around 3:30am but the fish weren’t really feeding until it started to become light. Most of the fish were caught on a hard jerk bait.
I also caught a couple on wacky rigged senkos and neko rigs.
Then I moved to another lake. The water in this second lake is getting so low that I fear the worst. I hope there will be some good rain fall this summer. But the bass were still biting and were looking in rather good shape despite the water level. The biggest bass at this lake was caught on a senko, but I caught several bass on my home made 1/4oz spinnerbaits
There was also a few crap, I mean carp fishermen there with 10 rods each, but they left just after I arrived. Here’s what they left laying around the bank when they left…there was about 10 dead bass and a couple of dead bluegill.
Then, I moved to another small lake. This lake has some beautiful scenery, here’s some nice scenic shots…
The wind was blowing hard at this lake, but I still caught a few bass, most of them fell for my neko rig cast into the wind.

I got out yesterday for the first time since being back home from Angola. I have been busy building a new fish tank for my pet Bass (but that’s another story for another time).
I was at the lake at 5:30am, I was wanting to be there before first light, but I slept in
The morning was the best part of the day with several dinks falling for the neko rig and a wacky rigged 5” watermelon/red Alluring senko.

The lake has a nice covering of weeds coming and I could see and hear tons of frogs, so I threw a frog for a while. I had several blow ups (which was very exciting) but only managed to land one of them.
Then I went to another lake just to check it out. I caught a few more dinks here also, and lost one decent bass on a homemade spinnerbait. Here’s a dink that took a liking to my spinnerbait
Overall I had a great day, hot, but great. The water levels in all waters are much higher than they were last month, but they are going back down again with the rice farmers
Oh, and here’s a photo of my new fish tank in progress…

I have just got these photos from my bass club website of the boat ramp area at Andong…it’s a sad sight. I hope the water levels start to rise soon!

Since I’m going back to Angola next week [add big sobbing smiley here] I wanted to get my boat on the water for the first time this year and have a good day’s fishing…and that is exactly what I had!!
I drove up to JangSung Lake (on Expressway 25) on Wednesday night to get an early start on Thursday morning. This is the decent sized lake I fished at last year where they had built a huge new boat ramp. Well, when I got there that ramp was all locked [add super angry smiley here]. This seems to be the trend here in Korea these days. I drove around in the dark and eventually found another ramp which was also locked, but had some other bass boats there so I was a little hopeful. The next morning a guy came and opened the gate and my fishing day started.
With the new moon approaching, the bass were in full spawn and once I found the depth they were spawning at I started catching bass after bass. 80% of the bass I caught were all females and full of eggs and almost all of them were over 3lbs.
I won’t bore you with too much writing but will let the pictures speak for themselves.
Here’s the biggest fish of the day, 50.5cm and 4lb 6oz
Here’s one I caught on a spinnerbait I made myself just last week, that is a great feeling
Here’s some more fishy photos,
